Window Rocket - who’s tried it?

I finally installed mine last week. Shipping was fast, packaging was excellent, instructions were great, installation was easy. I had my seats out for another project but removal is not necessary at all. Windows now work like a modern car. I'd have no problems buying again. I doubt winter will affect them where I live but it's only 3-4 months max of colder temps here anyway.

@PIP any updates on the non ABS version?

Running off 500 of the non-ABS Window Rocket spacers as I type this. They will be wrapped up tonight.

There is one more part to make. That should be up and running Monday. Then off to anodize by Wednesday would be my guess.

Packaging and hardware and instructions are all figured out. So should be up for sale as soon as we pack them up.

Thanks!

Dustin

Sweet! I've been refreshing the website daily making sure I haven't missed it. Looks great, and I'll be keeping my eyes peeled. Thanks @PIP for the fast update! Any change on price?

The non-abs kit will be a few bucks more. Not much more though.

Installed the final version of the non-ABS Window Rocket in Matt's RHD HDJ81 today. Fits great, very easy install.

Here are the special standoffs installed in place of the relay panel nuts (they will be anodized in the kits).

These mounts are 5052 sheet aluminum. I was going to build a stamping press tool to form a rib down the center for added strength. Then I thought about how simple they are and did a time/cost analysis on machining them from solid 6061 bar stock instead. Milling from solid was actually faster and lower cost vs laser cutting and forming.

That's about it until everything's back from anodized.

Hope everyone's still enjoying fast windows on these cold mornings!

For the handful of LHD manual trans with ABS guys out there I can do a version with an extended harness that you can mount somewhere up under the dash.

I bit. So far the product works as advertised. Speed of the windows improved greatly and my passenger rear window, which the po glued into place out of alignment, and has always stuck halfway up, now powers through the bind and goes up first time. I hope the rocket is a long lasting fix.
I was able to keep the aux fuse box I installed with some long standoffs from McMaster Carr.

True,. There are reasons why i moved to California...for the weather. But i have taken my rigs to many cold places, over 5000 miles and my windows are slow, but , nothing we cannot deal with..

Nothing you can't deal with for those trips :flipoff2:. Even the relatively moderate winters in Vancouver, BC make opening/closing windows suck. The sunroof speed sucks, too.

Anyone saying to live with the slow window speed, I've got a couple of BMWs from the same era whose windows open and close with speed. Heck, I can hand crank both windows in my Jeep YJ up and down faster than my 80's move. Also got a friend who's a Toyota mechanic who serviced 80's when they were new - he says window speed sucked back then, too.

Soon as I can a little extra USD I'll be buying the window rocket.

I just stumbled on this. If this is as good as it seems, I'd much rather dig into the kick panel than gut 4 doors...:hmm:

Three months in and it works like everyone says.
**Cries in slow windowed FJ80** ha...

I kid... I'm patiently waiting for the non-ABS version to drop. Going to do (el cheapo) window channels, belt mouldings and this all at the same time. Just waiting on the rocket to launch!
