the wyeth-scott power puller may be the brawniest looking cable puller ever produce. It is 30 pounds of cast iron and cable. I got mine a couple weeks ago, and this thing is a beast. It drug my lx bumper, deep in mud/ clay, out of a hole, then up a 30 degree bank of sticky clay with much less sweat and tears than expected. thanks for the suggestion. I highly recommend this to anyone without a winch, or anyone with a winch looking for a viable man powered back up.

ps. it is much easier, stronger, and quicker to use as a winch than my high lift

Thanks for the follow up - I am also looking to put together a nice recovery kit sans winch.

Did you go for the Amsteel blue rope or steel?

Also if you could could you tell me everything you are carrying that would be helpful.

I went with the steel cable just because of price. It is a little unruly to get spooled, but works jsut fine. However, the amsteel is very cool too. Below is my list, and i think it is pretty complete. I see you are in Arlington, PM me, where do you wheel around here?

1- 15,000lb 25 ft Snatch Strap
2- 10,000lb 25 ft Snatch Strap
1- 5,500lb 20 ft Tow Rope with hooks
1- 100 ft 5/8th inch warn winch cable with hooks (Extension Purposes for Hand winching)
1- 8,000lb 3 hook Hand Winch
1- 12,000lb Wyeth Scott Cable Puller/ Hand Winch
1- 60 inch High Lift Jack
1- Shovel with Gloves
2- ¾ inch Clevis Shackles
1- 15 feet of chain
1- Set Max Trax

Things i want - wheel lift kit for high lift
then warn 10k - some day

I cold have easily bought a winch for all of this if i got it new, but you really need most of this to accompany your winch anyway. Also, i got much of this stuff off of the MUD classifieds for great deals
