I've searched under the 80s forum and I have had no luck. I am almost positive that a Warn X8000i will fit in a winch ready ARB, but I just wanted to make sure. Any thoughts?

IMHO a bit light for a 80 series. the winch mounts to the arb feet forward so I'm not sure there would be room for the selonoid of the i series.

Fits fine- you just have to move the solenoid pack to wherever you want it

I thought that was the issue, the solenoid pack is part of the body unlike the M series winches that you can relocate the packs.

Yep, on the X, Anywhere you want it as long as it's right over the cable...

Kind of like Ford and the Model T... any color you want as long as it's black!

correct. Unless there's some truck i don;t know about removing the casting of the X series

never seen an X in an 80 ARB (edit: then again, that's a small winch to be putting on an 80 anyway)

So...it sounds like the x-series won't fit.

8000 is on the small side, but with the use of a block you shouldn't have any issues.

whew. I seen 60's and 80's drown out an 8000lb winches even with snatch blocks. They just stop pulling... they are working but can't pull the weight up an obstacle. This excludes an 8274 obviously.
Just make sure you don't go nijun'in anything that don't need ninjun'in without someone else being there to assist with a tug or something if that 8K drowns out.

No story. I've got a buddy that might be willing to sell this winch, if it will fit.

I just have this empty hole in the ARB and I don't think a cooler would fit correctly.

The "X" has nothing to do with whether it will fit or not.
Now the "i" on the other hand...

So "i" stands for what? integrated? Ichabod?
Also.... find me an X series that doesn't have the "i". Nevermind. They don't even have that X8000i series anymore...

I've always thought it was the X series.... so it's the "i"

Ok. I have an update. The X8000i will fit in a winch-ready ARB on an 80. No modifications needed. I actually used it at GSTMR (those green trails are not so green).

Now the next question is, does anyone know what a used X8000i is worth? I want to give the guy a reasonable offer.

It just depends on the age and condition. I wouldn't pay more than $400 for a used one.
The condition of the winch is almost brand new. The guy used it a few times on his older Bronco when he would get stuck in mud on their hunting ground.

craigslist listings range from 300-500 and there is one on ebay with no bids for 300.

He was thinking $300, so it looks like a reasonable deal.
