A few weeks ago my dad picked up a 1963 Willys Wagon, he had planned to restore the body and use it as a delivery truck for his company. The guy he bought it from had done a spring over, but the drag link hits the springs and something needed to be done about that. It had some pretty bad rust on one of the quarter panels and the floor, but overall was pretty solid. It has a Chevy inline six, stock transmission and transfer case. It runs really nice.

However, while looking for parts he came across a 1957 Willys. The guy said he'd sell it for $100 and we kinda laughed and wondered how bad it was going to be when we went to go look at it... and we were amazed! The body was almost perfect. Covered in moss, but NO rust. None. The motor and transmission were missing and it was a 2x4, but it was all there down to the original hubcaps (in perfect shape).

So now I think the plan is totally changed. The 2x4 one is going to get restored and used as the delievry truck/company truck. The better parts will come off the 1962 and go onto the 57, and the rougher parts will go on the 4x4. As far as the engine... we don't know yet. We are going to try to find a flathead willys engine for the 2x4, but it may get a 350 and just be stock looking from the outside. Kinda depends on how much a motor is going to cost for it.

The 4x4 is going to get built too. Both are pretty complete, so the rougher parts will go to this one and it's NOT going to be kept very stock. It will end up being the camping/wheeling truck and mildly built as such. Just something to go camping and fishing and play in.

Here they are. The 57's hood and grill are inside the back of it as well as a lot of the trim and small parts.

I will take some better photos of them when it's not pouring freezing rain.

nice!
I read about a guy's build on Pirate, he gutted a puke-on (GMC Yukon glorified minivan) and did a great job, even refabricating the replacement body panels, which looked like the selling manufacturer was Ray Charles.

Good luck to your dad on this one, I'll keep an eye peeled for the finished product on my way over to Georgetown or Placerville.
