I have a 1993 FZJ-80 and am getting the tic - ticing from the front end when turning, sooo I think its time to replace the Birfields. I know little to nothing about these. I am a Cruiser guy...just old school (first 80 series) many 60s (11) and a couple 40s (4) have been cared for in this home. This is a area I have not traveled, so advice is welcome. We are in the Pacific North West (Wa.) and really dont do any HARD 4Xing with this rig, just the logging trails, snow etc. We save the serious fun for our 40.
My questions are.........#1)Which to get? (sort of on budget)(every dollar I spend on my rigs I have to spend .50 on the wife) its the deal I made when we purchased our 4th Cruiser. #2) What else will I need while in there? #3) how many banana  job is this? new baby take most of my time. so need to budget time.

Thanks one and all

In2Cruisers,

You might try swapping sides if you repack and don't see major problems. Otherwise, I would recommend new OEM birfields. 2nd choice would be Bobby Long's.

I've read several references to an Australian source for OEM birfields from Toyota's supplier at better than Toyota prices. I've not heard the specifics. Anybody know the source in Australia?

In2,
if you have only light ticking then I would swap them and repack them well and see if it clears it up. kind of a band aid solution but for a non wheeler its not a bad one. FWIW the birfs on these are just bigger than the 60 and 40 seriies birfs not any different.
