where is a good place to buy steel ?

I need to buy some flat bar and rod for a gate I am welding, what is a good place to pick up steel , my buddy buys from alder steel but that's a bit of a drive . some place closer to coquitlam. Plus does any one know what rod's would be best 6011 ? I am borrowing his 220v stick

Metal Supermarket just over the Golden Ears in Langley. It's where I've gone but I don't have anywhere else to compare to.

Metal Supermarkets is one of the places you can get it, they have several locations, their prices are a bit high but if you just need a couple pieces and are not doing it frequently or buy in very small amounts, it is an OK choice. They have a location by Willington and Lougheed area, in Burnaby as well.

I've a friend who swears Aldersteel gives the best prices and has the best selection. He use to build trailers, so I am sure he is getting a decent 'account' price. I always like to try telling places when they ask if I have an account, "yes, it is BC Hydro cash account." Yes, I am cheap; and yes, it worked once.

6011 is fine for stick welding or 6013 has a better bead little less penetration and both can be ran AC or DC
