I recently installed longer wheel studs too for when I run a Mag wheel with a thicker mounting flange.

If you use the search function here with this dorman # you will find threads that reference another dorman number too. I bought these at Summit. I chose them mainly because of price. Other folks like the other dorman # becuase they have a longer knurl. Dorman's website has good dimensional info. These are about a 1/4" longer.

Back on the road for about 3 weeks after it's nearly 50 year nap. I've been driving it nowhere just to drive it, and it's seen about 300 miles now...which is about 14 miles a day....and oh what a feeling!!
I dont trust the fuel gauge, but it has earned my confidence in everything else.

The one on the right just does not look beefy. I guess folks have no complaints with long term use/wheeling?

This week I drove up to wells me then down to plymton mass then to Ballston lake and back to my home in two days … I think just shy of 700 miles and 10+ hours of driving time… and in cruiser driving time that’s 11.5 hrs :meh:

First pic … Murphy’s law … the doors were off … it rained hard lol

Then two of wells are sight seeing with the kiddos

Then…. Back NY loaded with needed parts :)

If you want to connect with a couple other Cruisers in Maine, reach out. I run around with a few guys from Scarborough and Biddeford, not too far from Wells.

Took my son up camping near Nederland, CO, and did a bit of wheeling (West Magnolia and North Caribou). Got a bit sketchy in the mud holes on N Caribou! Trails were almost totally deserted, only saw a few folks all day... If I do more solo wheeling I'll either need to pick tamer trails or invest in a winch ;)

I have mentioned this before but back in 1974 I had my new FJ40 and took my neighbor out for a ride on some logging roads in Vermont. As luck has it I got sucked into a muddy curb and the truck slid into the abyss. What did I know…this was a stock everything cruiser. With zero options, we had to walk back into town 7 miles and get a tow out of a simple mud bog that I know today would have been a piece of cake with reasonable tires alone. I’d go for the winch

Took her to work in Fredericksburg and then to my buddies place in Blanco.

Of course I look into it and folks love the Warn 8274... Got some sticker shock! Looks like I'll need to keep an eye out for a used one.

A lot of seat time and great experiences and memories made with my 40 past 2 weeks. About 2500 miles total. Camped the whole time. Drove to California from BC Canada. Attended Rubithon. Then on the return trip did a side quest exploring SE Oregon before heading back home. Only a few minor issues with the fuel system but overall a great trip
