Thanks Charlie, it runs so nicely but it’s also a very fresh restoration. One reason I don’t take it out on the road much. Even the frame is clean ..he-he
When I get home, I vacuum the carpet it’s parked on before I bring it back inside. Some day I’m gonna have to sell it so I’m keeping it really clean for the next guy…😳

I took the Cruiser out over the weekend to experiment with drone footage. It was a very hot 85°F in Nederland, Colorado!

Although I cut the footage out, I crashed the drone in autopilot when it was locked on the Cruiser. Ha.

Let me know what you think. This is a huge and exciting learning curve. I’ve flown RC aircraft for years but this is the first time that I have used them for filming the Cruiser, which is also the first time that I have used autopilot.

@Mike Shull this is fun stuff. I have had a fantasy of flying RC airplanes for over 45 years. I had even built an Sig Cadet with a .040 size engine had all of the starter stuff for the nose cone, carry box and radio.. when I discover I did not want to destroy this beautiful model, I took the wings off and drove it around my yard…that was over 45 years ago!

Yep, I have a drone, never flew it and I have the crazy license they make you apply for I do Consider this a terrific video and given the scenic area you’re in, I see a huge series of LC video on the horizon
You get my vote….love this!

Thank you! I’ve crashed many RC airplanes before giving up that hobby. They are great fun to fly but not so much at high altitude as the wind can be extremely unpredictable and the instruments at the time were quite limited to understand what was happening. I started to get into helicopters many years ago but I decided to sell as it was even more expensive than planes and I could tell that it was going to end in a costly crash.

Drones are miles above (pun intended!) planes and helicopters in my opinion, and anything that is fairly modern (2020+) seem to be quite stable in unpredictable weather. Given this, I’ve crashed a fair number of drones, but usually because I made an error, except for Sparky, which has a tendency to fly away from me.

What type of drone do you have?

Snaptrain? I have to check the model but it has autopilot. I have also renewed the FAA certificate. That said, I haven't fully flown it in about two years. The sound of it spinning got my dogs all riled up so I put it back in the shop. That dog unfortunately passed so I keep meaning to give it a go. I really just would like to see my house from 100’ up…ha

My last look at rc planes and helicopters revealed some remarkable stuff, ridiculous scale, incredible details and big costs. The fears of crashing one of those is high and I have other things to still try. I love the scale passenger jets…you’ve seen them, they’re about 15’ long and so detailed they damn near look real

I have recently seen a few drones that literally run like boomerangs….they won’t leave you, like a nasty bug that you can’t swat away. Your video inspired me to charge it up and give it a go. You’re video really is fun to watch

Fantastic day here today… 72*F…no humidity, crystal blue sky and a cool gentle breeze. Hammock weather. So, I went here

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback as I never know what people like to see. I can’t wait to see pictures of your Cruiser from your drone.

Nice Cruiser!

@Mike Shull thank you Mike. She’s a great runner. Fully modernized for a ‘75. Disk brakes, 3.70 gears, new seats, sniper, fully refreshed drive line, bearings, seals, ready for another 100,000 miles if I can still drive in 10 years 😂

I took the Cruiser out again this weekend, but this time it was to look for places to fly my drone. I captured some amazing sunset photos for a 2027 calendar that I am working on.

The Cruiser is doing amazing well! It is nice to just hop in and drive.

It's a million degrees already, so I took the top off, but still wanted to take the canoe. Bit of work the weekend before.

Took the scenic route going out, Bear Camp Road from Grant's Pass to Gold Beach. It's a shortcut that reduces the drive from over 3.5 hours to just under 6.

Didn't actually take the Cruiser on the sand this time. Everybody else in the group has side-by-sides which haul ass, and the Cruiser is kind of plodding. If anybody else wanted to ride with me I would, but if I'm solo the dirt bike is way more fun.

BUT.
There's this little event called UTV Takeover where literally everybody in the Pacific Time Zone brings their side-by-sides and dune buggies to Coos Bay for the week. Our ring leader tries to avoid it, but we need to reserve campsites 9 months in advance, and they don't announce the UTVTO dates until 6 months in advance.
So by Friday morning there was enough traffic that riding a bike on the dunes was horrifying. If you were sitting down just to buggy watch, it wouldn't seem like there were that many of them. But riding and crossing paths with them it became a different story.

Went for a woods drive on Saturday to scout out where to look for firewood next year and didn't see anybody.

It looks like you had an awesome time. Thanks for sharing.

@Mike Shull . Thanks for the encouragement…got the drone charged and flying but it was a fairly windy day and was drifting too far so, landed and waiting for a better day this week

Awesome! I can’t wait to see the footage when the wind calms down. I was practicing long exposure shots when a gust of wind came up. It’s better to land and fly another day. I’ve learned that lesson the hard way.

They sell hammocks? Or were you using showroom one?
Haha. No…. I should have gone out in the yard , grabbed a beer and hung out in the hammock…weather was one of the 5 days we get here that was not hot and humid or cold and windy… since I didn’t do that, I drove over to HF
