Happy summer everyone. My son is home on leave and itching to take the 80 out. If anyone is up for wheeling Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, at Anthracite let me know. Nothing too crazy just looking for a day in the woods.
6/27-6/29.
Thanks!

We will be heading up early on Saturday for an early departure. 9am. Let me know.

My son and I went to anthracite on Saturday and it was a great time. He drove his ‘93 80 and I navigated. We did something we’ve never done before which is drive solo and also get all the way out to the end of the west property. We kept it simple and safe being solo. We started out on 102 Green and then did parts of 102 blue and then we worked our way down to Whale Back where it looked like a big piece of rock slid off the shelf (see photos). We then hit 116 and we headed towards Puff where you can see the smoke from the coal burning underground. We did it in the winter when we were up there with Andy. We got to the top of that trail and saw that the complete trail was wiped out, but it made a perfect spot to take lunch with a great view. We then hit 124 and 137 and made it all the way out to the end to the lake to an area called the sands. Lots of cool shoots, climbs small hills and fun stuff to drive on with low consequences. It reminds me of the play areas at paragon. We then we’d our way back up the gas pipeline where there’s a nice option of two climbs that are steep and then worked our way up to 102 green back to the entrance, when we got to the end we had to backtrack on 102 green, because where you usually could get out they’re digging a large hole. When we crossed the road, I noticed another large hole it actually looks like they’re building a tunnel to access the west property. Does anyone know anything about this? Overall, we had a great day we covered 17 miles and only saw one full size group on a parallel trail for about 2 minutes. There were lots of side-by-sides, quads, and motorcycles. If you’ve never made it out to the western property and wanna just cover ground I highly recommend getting all the way out. We left at 9:15 am and were back in the lot and aired up by 2:35.
