I am trying to put together final numbers for my build and I am trying to decide on wheelbase.

The plan is to cut down my 60 to a crewcab and then add a flatbed. I will be going SOA and running 37" tires with a 2.5" backspace. The thought right now is to stretch it to 130". Will this be to long or will the tires help it still have decent clearance. The rig will be for wheeling, hunting, camping, and working my little ranch.

I use to wheel my 93 Dodge which was 130" and it didn't seem to long and it only had 33" tires.

Thanks.

that seems way long for 37's....i'm at 114 with 39.5's and it's marginal as far as break over angle goes. somewhere around 118ish and it seems like you start really needing rear-steer

My thought is since I'm using a flatbed and then I was going to remove the frame from the rear leaf hanger back to inprove break over.

But this is my first big project so my thinking could be wrong.

i think that would be departure angle....i meant getting hung up on stuff inbetween the axles, like high centered? btw, that should be a cool looking rig!

My big hang up on the project is cutting the cab to a crewcab and welding it back together. I'm not a welder and it might be to expensive to hire it done. So we shall see.
