Hi guys,

looking at picking up a set of used wheels and I'm hoping all will be well with fitment. I will be adding a 3" lift prior to running these on my '97 4runner:

17x8 wheels on a -4mm offset and I will be picking up a tire in a 285/70/R17.

Should there be any issues?

I wouldn't think so. I am running 17" FJ Cruiser alloys with the equivalent of 31x10.50s on a 98 Runner with 230K miles and original stock suspension...

That tire is about 32.7" tall. The 8" wheel with a -4mm offset puts the backspacing at about 4.25". There is a pretty good chance that you will rub. Alot, if not most, of people rub with a "33". Those wheels push the tires out ~.5" plus they are 1" wider than stock.

My tires are a true/full 32" and with my flexy 3" lift I get rubbing at the top of the wheel wells, front. I do have wheel spacers that give me a ~3.25" backspacing. I also get some inner wheel well rubbing when turning.

The further out your tire sticks the larger the arc when turning. The larger the arc, the more it will contact the wheel well when turning.
