What to do in San Diego?

I just found out that I have to go to San Diego for a month at the beginning of the summer. My work is sending me to our California office for some stuff and they are paying to send me and my family out there for a month.

I have quickly scanned a few things, and see that there is the following:

San Diego Zoo
Sea World
Disneyland
Devil's Canyon 3 mile rock crawling trail
Anza-Borrego Desert Park
Joshua Tree Park
Dennis Conners Americas Cup Sailing
Rubicon (would be nice, but far away)
Tijuana (maybe not safe)
USS Midway


Is there anything that is a don't miss, or skip? I figured a lot of you were in the military and have either been through California or vacationed there.

I always enjoyed going into the bar right outside gate of Navy Base and calling them all fags and telling them that they only had Marines on board as sheep were to conspicuous. That usually got the party started!!!!

Kinda like in elem. school when you pick on the girls because you really wanted to make out with them.

You forgot Glamis. Somebody you will be dealing with in SD will have quads or a sand rail, or you can rent them. Thousands of acres of dunes. Miles of trails. You can go fast and fly high with little fear of breaking something. There are many MUDDers in that area toys to play in the sand. That is the best dune area in the world. This weekend we did Baja test and tune out there.

There are a few beaches out there you might want to check out.

Skip Tijuana, IMHO not safe anymore. You can take the fairy over to Coronada Island, take the train up the coast, and whale watching tours (depending on season). Gaslamp area, little Italy and Old Town are good places to eat out.
I just got back this week and usually go a couple times a year.

Padres Game
Wild Animal Park
Coranado Island
Totally Thomas Store (Thomas the Tank store)


We are doing Legoland today, San Diego Zoo tomorrow, and Disneyland next weekend.

Anything we should hit in between that we shouldn't miss while we are here. I want to head into LA and see a movie at the Chinese Theatre and get a hot dog at Pinks, but not sure if we will brave LA or not with the little one.

Jump across the border for the day to TJ.
Take a tour of the naval station and ships.
Head up to Escondido to the vineyard next to the Lawrence Welk resort. Have a huge collection of old cars spread out there.


Not sure if you have a rig to wheel in. But

Joshua Tree (great even if you don't have a rig)
