I already posted something in the 40/55 forum... but i need the info fast before the parts store closes....

The only thing holding me back from installing the engine into my fj62 is that stupid camshaft plug on the rear of the engine.

No one has a listing of the size or part number. I think it might be a 47mm... but not sure.

Special plug only available from Toyota, AFAIK.
Half thickness, compared to more conventional plugs, and a strange metric OD.

I've always had to either re-use or get from dealer.

ok.. thats going to be fun punching it out and not damaging it.

what do you use for sealant?

To remove without damaging, use an old camshaft, without the gear and thrustplate. Slide the cam all the way in, then tap another 1/4" back w/ dead blow. Plug falls out rear of block.

Reinstall w/ permatex #1.

Ok I punched the cam plug out with the camshaft. I measured the plug at 47.6mm. So it is maybe a 48mm? Anyway I could not find one. I even went to the machine shop and we couldnt find one there either. So I am just going to do as you said and use the old plug with some perm #1.

I like posting with updates just in the case someone else needs this information.

Thanks Jim

Dave
