Looks great. I altered my fender for the box, instead of cutting an opening in my new oem fender. It was relatively simple and not overly difficult. View attachment 4156380View attachment 4156381.
When i ran sag steering it was a little floaty, but steering geometry was a little off and i was running larger bias plys too. I think the sag box position and pitman arm are too far forward in relation to the tie rod. I did Scout steering and it tightened things up. The red 40 drives awesome. When I 1st put it together I used p/s fluid which made it a little to stiff. I since changed to dextron, which makes it about right. My links and geometry are spot on. I can fly down the highway if I want to.

Street drivers by with the sag pump/80 box and 35’s- nice. Not to vague, steady at speed. In the rocks, maybe good. Maybe underpowered if you go bigger, it’s definitely doable though.
Here in NJ, the only real thing separating the gas and diesel pump is the separate hose with the green pump handle and the price.
They’re on the same pump stand and you select which product is coming out of the nozzle
I have a 74 with a mini truck power steering box and a 77 with an 80 series box. No comparison, the 80 box would be my go to on any future projects. It turns 32/11.5/15’s effortlessly. I will be adding a steering stabilizer to dampen the responsiveness. My springs haven’t fully broken in yet so it’s easy to oversteer if not paying attention.
I recently rebuilt my mini-truck box and messed around with pressure adjustment shims for the old Sag ham can pumps to dial it in. IIRC I landed on three shims as the feel that felt the best for my taste, roughly 850-950 psi. When I pulled the pressure valve I only found one shim so I was probably running 1,200-1,300 psi and the steering was light, not to mention I had blown a seal on the box.

Had fill 4 holes from previous roof rack in the hard top had some extra paint left over from the boat so decided to do extremely quick paint job. If you need a very good and extremely easy to use roll on paint I highly recommend interlux toplac paint dont have to tip it just roll on. You can also wet and buff if want.
Enjoying it now that it actually runs and drives. I got the Koito H4 kit, 81110-60P70, and threw that it. My terminals were aftermarket/mangled so I cut those off and redid the ends of my wires. Engine bay is kind of a mess but it'll do for now. View attachment 4154414View attachment 4154415View attachment 4154416
