What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Big fan of make it yours. Its your money your way in a free country at least for now. Plenty of good vids for DIY electro rust removing and plating. Today you can buy new stuff, that might not be true tomorrow, next: week, month, year, however fixing it yourself with skills and knowledge should remain a viable option for a long time. Look at the Cuban cars for example.

Oh, I get that. From 1st hand experience it also depends on how far down the DIY rabbit hole you go with this process. If you buy the chemicals that are easily available as you said, that can take the guessing out of it and, make for a somewhat easy process. If you attampt to create these plating solutions yourself that, can be fuitle. The videos I found made it appear easy. Not so much unlesss you have premade chemicals and bring some patience.

Test fitting new intake manifold to header, looking to see the difference in flange thickness and if I'd be needing half washers or somesuch quick fix. I had the header milled to match the old intake when I did the valve job last year, looks to me like it matches up pretty well with the new one too. Think it's ready to bolt on for real.

I made custom brass stepped washers for my cast intake/steel header. I run two man-a-fre header gaskets that were installed wet. This same gasket set intake/header has been on two different engines 3 times total and has never leaked.

Y'know those little thingies ("fuel filters" Toyota calls them, IIRC)? I heard there was an obstruction of some sort in them that affected vacuum somehow. It's true, there's something in there. So I drilled a hole in it. Thinking I can use it as a source for the vacuum gauge

I thought is was "gas filter", air being a gas and all. Engrish. :meh:

Yeah, I don't see why not - should work just fine.

WHYD to your Cruiser this week?
I ordered new suspension parts, and a 2" lift kit. I was debating it, but when I was rebuilding my front end I saw the shackles were all wallowed out and the bushings were cracked. If I'm replacing that might as we do it all. Oh and if anyone has the dimensions on the spare tire swing mount it would be appreciated. Last owner was going to front bumper mount it, I want it in back. I have the arm and support brackets, but they patched over the old holes, I don't want to mount it lopsided.

It's all back together and runs. My Special Manifold Operation went just 3 days. Exactly as planned. No real change, manifold vacuum might be a little lower if anything. Stupid tick-tick-tick is unchanged. I'm pretty sure I'm past thinking it's an exhaust leak. I take off the valve cover and start it up, which I H8 to do since that oil fire on the headers that one time. I'm sliding the feeler gauge in between the adjuster and the valve, which I never do with the engine running since the first time I did it, I slipped .008" in the intake #4 and the ticking stopped. Aha?

What does that connection look like ? Was there a reason you used a hard line vs a rubber hose? Maybe it is a plastic line cant tell...

That looks pretty good, its clean and flush to the body. I've seen these set ups online, I am trying to keep it close to original, or resto mod original, but I may end up going this route because ease of installation. I won't have to drill through my body again.
plus eliminates a rattle point …

Dave Gore (sole proprietor of 4Plus products) is threatening to retire, so if you want one you should buy it sooner than later.

His stuff is absolutely top quality. I have his bumpers and swing-outs on both ends of my 40.
