Get ready to paint the floorboard where the gas tank sits. I was curious about some areas that are showing a little medal after sanding the primer. I read that the areas showing medal could be potentially high spots.

Wondering if I should go ahead and spray the 2k on it or should I hit it up with primer again? Any thoughts would be great because I plan on trying to do this today. Thanks

It would make sense that those are high spots. I’d hit it with more primer but that obviously won’t lower them. Aren’t there rubber or felt strips or standoffs that go in there? I’d probably add something like that along the edges to avoid metal on metal friction.

Yeah I’m planning on adding rubber to avoid medal to medal contact. I’ll hit it with primer again. Thanks for the response.

Congrats. So you bought wills HJ47?!?
We were just talking about it this weekend. Keep us posted on the progress.
Indeed, if anything goes to plan then hopefully it will be at CRR 27'. He also reserved some seat time as part of our arrangement 😀

Hard to find 2H parts stateside as I'm finding out!

Bought a new battery and rebuilt the clutch master cylinder for the swb45. Time to get it out of mothballs, down to the shop, detailed…and sold.

Well, here goes. A little background, I bought this probably 20 years ago and it had been assaulted by the previous owner in unspeakable ways. It was coated in sand, the seats were raised by placing electrical junction blocks between the floor and the seat frames. Holes were drilled in the hood for the purpose of mounting a shovel and a crow bar and a spare that belonged on riding mower. Through the years I had removed all the sand except for what was on the hardtop, I took it off and put on a used Bestop soft top. Rebuilt the engine about 2000 miles ago and also installed disc brakes. The steering was also rebuilt. In January I got after the suspension and it is now sporting the Skyjacker 2 1/2 inch lift kit. The final piece of the puzzle was putting the doors and hardtop back on. Removing that sand from the fiberglass was pretty time and labor intensive. I put new weatherstripping on the doors and new glass channel. I am almost done, I need to replace the driver side door handle, it's coming next Saturday. It feels like a whole new vehicle. There is a down side to all of this, I painfully failed to adhere to my beer budget, wasn't even close. Honestly, I didn't try very hard. My happy place is CCR, PBR and working on that 40. Thanks for all the help and good info I got from all of you.
What!?!?... All that and no pics? sheesh! ;)

What did I do? Oh yeah, I remember... Last week, I was running down the road to my granddaughter's soccer game and the LV wouldn't pull herself past 40 mph. Got done with soccer and took her home, parked it and got on with the rest of my day. A day or so later, I lifted the hood, pulled the distributor cap and noticed the point gap had disappeared. Pulled the points, cleaned and lubed the cam, cleaned the points and re-gapped them and she's happy again. She pulls strong all the way to 50, then settles in and will run there for days.

Brought home the painted tub and the rest of the green panels. Still waiting on the top/bezel. More engine accessories work.

Massively geeked out over the oil filter to oil cooler casting and refurbishing all that. Crazy complicated casting on that part. The more I learn about FJ40’s the more I respect the Toyota engineers.

And I don’t know if these bolts are a 9 or a 6 but I was listening to Slayer so they are installed as 6’s
