My day so far....Routed the stop pull cable, cut brackets, spent 3 hrs trying to drill out the pump arm for the cable end, took the arm off the pump (carefully removed the pump arm wedge) still haven't succeeded in drilling out the arm (of course my good drills are nowhere to be found) so l decided to refit it & come up with a stop gap set up until its drilled out, proceeded to dropped the wedge (l've spent 2hrs looking for it & for now l've given up as its getting dark)..l'll look out a magnet & meantime 'adapt' a coin just in case tomorrow isn't a successful morning hunt... domestic chores be damned...
Before l continue... a shoutout to Duncanrm for his sympathy & advice.....

Okay, here goes, as per the above post, l couldn't find the wedge so made another, decided to put the pump arm back on & leave it for the garage to drill, in the process the pump pivot pin dropped down into the pump & l'm now have to strip down the rear of the pump oil cooler, diaphram off & the rear section to get access to the pivot arm & push it up, reset it, insert the wedge & reconnect the arm.
On the upside l bought a new set of carbon drills & the cable hole on the arm is now done..it took less than 2 minutes. l'll spend a couple of days putting it back together again & fiddling with the fuel setting until its right. LESSON LEARNED...If it ain't broke leave it alone...

Got Kermit running after a few years waiting his turn! PO had flat pistons in domed engine set up. Bad compression. Broken rings. Replaced flat pistons with domes, all new rings, headgasket, etc. Also did a carb rebuild to a tee. Its amazing when the Aisan carb is dialed in. Starts on the first try, no flat spots, secondary kicks in with oomph as does power piston.

This is the first failure in two years, after daily driving in Bogota! I went for my annual vehicle inspection (technomechanica), everything was going well. Then the inspector calls me over and says he can't put the truck in gear. After a visual inspection we noticed fluid on the floor. It (clutch fluid reservoir) was leaking and would not let the truck go into gear. I called my mechanic and he came over right away and fixed it on the spot. I was able to continue the inspection and passed. Gotta love Colombia.

Same problem as you. Just replaced the master and slave cylinders only my 64.

@Land Shark my wife LOVES the seats you have. Purple is one of her favorite colors

Not my choice actually. They were in the 40 when I brought it. When I stick some Corbeau’s in there she can have them ;)

Bled the brakes, then got a call that I needed to meet my in laws with my kids since my wife’s photo session ran over. The car I was driving today was in the air with all 4 wheels and tires off, which only left Linda (the red ‘78)

Good news…Brakes work much better. Still a bit touchy. I think I need to adjust the push rod depth back a bit.

Bad news…I ran out of gas.

More bad news…the battery was also dead.

Even more bad news…my kids were in the back so I’ve probably (hopefully?) given my daughter a complex about always making sure your tank never gets low).

Ended on a positive note. 2 FJ40s fit in my garage better than 1 FJ40 and a Mercedes wagons.

I straightened out my pretzeled front bump with a home made tool.
I cut the end of a piece of 2x3x.250 wall tube to use as leverage. I put the "tongue" that I cut in front of the end of the frame then "armstronged" both ends back into shape. The big crescent wrench was used to flatten out the ripples.

IMO the bumper has the perfect patina!

Thank you and I agree 100%.
I have no intention to paint the bumper (or the body which is original) or the PTO Winch. Only thing I'm doing is replacing the winch cable because it is somewhat mangled.

Unloaded Aquala tub and cowl from the pallet they shipped on, bolted up a couple 2x4's and strapped it to a cheap ass amazon yard trailer so I can move it around/manipulate orientation alone to pre fit and prep.

Aquala did a top notch job at paletizing for shipping.
