What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Drove it a little, reminded myself of the list of stuff I need to do to get it back on the road.

I mounted the tent on top of the metal tech family roll cage (Metal Tech FJ40 Land Cruiser Pre-built Full Profile Roll Cage - https://metaltech4x4.com/metal-tech-fj40-land-cruiser-pre-built-full-profile-roll-cage/?sku=MT-FJ40-15010&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA_Yq-BhC9ARIsAA6fbAiTmbz5aJ3wjk4ugvSKqYVIe-JZtKDzudxslp-KZzdxLzHPrjMnBDsaAhilEALw_wcB) we welded together. When we built the roll cage, we tried to make the top as flat as possible to accommodate mounting a tent. This took a little work but we managed to get the B pillar height at the same height as both the A and C pillars. With thatdone we went ahead and welded 90° tabs inside of the cage to accommodate single M8 through bolts. Using the bottom track of the Rhino Rack recon cross bars bars (Roof Rack Parts | Bars - https://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/products/roof-rack-extras/roof-rack-parts/bars) and through bolts we mounted the two crossbars. The RTT then lays on top of the crossbars and using a different set of 90° brackets on the side tracks of the Rhino Rack Recon deck bars we mount the tent. The Recon bars makes it incredibly simple due to having usable mounting tracks on all four sides of the bars and because the deck bars are incredibly stout. Hopefully that makes sense. Fabbed a second hood latch, joined the 2 together and used a lawnmower throttle cable attached to my hand throttle knob as the hood release.
Now no-one can run away with my battery.

I've got a couple of factory dash pads to choose from before recovering them. If they are too far gone, I may have to copy your idea.

I'm torn about what to recover the Dash-pad with. I really enjoy working with leather, but it gets very wet here, and it may not stand up well. I have recently picked up a Seiko walking foot industrial sewing machine, so I suppose the better option might be Vinyl... but, did I mention how much I prefer leather?


What did you cover yours with? Leather? or is it just good looking vinyl?

I've built a lot of custom wheelchair seating systems, so in comparison to foam in place seats that can't have any seams under the client, the interior of an old Fj40 would be a cakewalk... especially since I replaced the original clutch motor with a Servo motor. Now I can decide how many stitches per minute I want rather than how many feet per minute it would sew with the clutch motor.

Golly, back in 1972, you couldn’t buy Coors Beer east of the Rockies. Two crazy and older friends of mine took his F-250 to Colorado and drove back to Vermont with 20 cases and did it all in a week. Good ole days are long gone…so is he by the way

Yeah, I got 3 cases in September 2023 when I was out there. Been. Nursing them along one or two at a time

Installed grey procars, not much seat time yet.For the longest time one of the pair were on backorder, Jegs got 4 in stock finally.
Color is a smidge lighter than factory door cards.

Thanks, the driver side is a factory 40 seat and the passenger is a modified 60 series bucket seat and they're covered with sunbleached cableas seat covers.

Awesome! I like my stock two seater, or half bench or whatever its called. The springs are so comfy. Just not very sportin'...
