Cleaned power steering reservoir and flushed system and replaced fluid with full synthetic automatic transmission fluid. I raised the truck put it on jacks and turned the wheel from lock to lock. I first turned it left, then went and filled reservoir again, then turned it right, and went and filled reservoir again. I saw that the fluid was Clear i closed it all up. Turns really smooth now, i will do another flush in a couple of days. I can still hear a faint whine when turning i think its just going to be a little whine no matter what. I read somewhere someone changed the power steering pump and they could still hear a whine. After spraying the reservoir withe the cleaners i ran the water hose with a spray nozzle on it to rinse it out as much as possible.

Cleaned my reservoir this afternoon. It didn't look as bad as yours, but I was surprised to see how much dark, crusty residue was in the bottom of the reservoir where the screen is. Not sure what it is...but it had a good portion of the screen blocked.

I let mine soak in mineral spirits (in my parts washer) then used compressed air to break up the crusty matter. I then filled the reservoir with M/S shook it around and then poured the contents out. Repeated until most of the screen and the insides of the reservoir looked clean.

It is difficult to remove particulates because the screen in the reservoir separates the top and bottom halves of the unit. Any residue in the top portion (where most of it is) has to come out the small hole in the opening at the top. And since that is 'recessed' somewhat, it is hard to get it to come out with the fluid alone. Blowing compressed air into it eventually removed most of it.

I had thought about just buying a replacement until I saw they run from $130.00 to $175.00. Not paying that for a piece of plastic.

Fixed rodent damage to knock sensor wire. It goes back together tomorrow, hopefully solder skills are up to the task

I finally got around to installing the Slee primary upgrade battery tray that's been sitting in my garage for over a month now (this roughly translates to: I didn't go skiing this weekend) and a X2 Power group 31 dual purpose marine battery. This battery is monster compared to the group 35 Yellowtop it replaced. It weighs 75 lbs and damn near gave me a hernia when lowering it into the bay!

These batteries are made by Northstar and are made in the US.
Specs: 1150cca, 220 minute reserve and a 4 year warranty, AGM dual purpose (starting/deep cycle)

Eventually I will install a dual battery setup, but wanted to start with a bigger primary since I will be installing a 12,000 lbs winch and bull bar in the next month or two and I still need to rely on deep cycling for camping and general reliability in the backcountry.

Compare the size of this g35 yellowtop to the g31 X2 in the image below.

I bought a cheap battery lug crimper from amazon. It's definitely made out of Chinesium and I did have to take it apart and bleed it because it had air in the chamber and didn't want to fully compress. After pulling it apart, greasing the o-rings and bleeding it, it worked like a champ. For what I paid, it was absolutely worth it and makes very nice, tight crimps.

Did those monster battery lugs come with the kit too or are they something different?

New spark plugs and replaced both primary O2 sensors.

The military terminals are included in the upgrade kit from Slee. The 3 copper lugs I used for crimping onto the cut factory ground wires, I got from Advanced. I also picked up a foot of 2ga insulated copper wire from Home Depot to make a new chassis ground to replace the original one.

Took the wife to Hurricane Creek in western North Carolina for a little ride on the way from from Asheville.

Want to make this trip, how far does the trail go? Any others in the area? Thanks!

I'm guessing Hurricane Creek is 2.5 - 3 miles but you can hit some other trails that spur off and make it an all day ride. In that area, you can jump on to gravel roads and back on to trails, really need to look at the maps. I hit Hurricane Creek straight off I-40 past mile marker 8. When you see the Harmon's Den sign, get ready to turn off the interstate. The only thing I can say is be careful and put your signal on way before so people will got around you. At the end of the guard rail, be ready to turn. It's pretty dangerous but if you were there early in the morning it shouldn't be too bad. You can loop this up to Max Patch, if you haven't been, really neat place. Enjoy!

Looks great Joe!
What color do you plan to paint your new front bumper?
Yours is coming up on the build list!
Look forward to meeting you in a few weeks and taking a look at the rig in person.

I've been trying to decide on the color for a long time now. Probably either white with some black accents or just straight black. The wait is killing me! :)

Wheeled with my buddy. He took his 4R off-road for the first time yesterday, definitely braver than I would have been. He got a chance to experiment with Crawl Control.

Looks like fun, wish I could be down there! Was that anywhere where we ventured in August?

Hope Jaf and Louise are doing good, tell them I said hi.

Helped @PaulLx470 do an oil change, throttle body cleaning, and MAF sensor cleaning on his LX470. I had a brainfart and picked up an M1-206 filter instead of a 209... only when I tried to tighten it did I realize that "6" is "9" upside down... :bang:

Meanwhile, Elsie got new TRD plate frames which I swear have added about 20 horsepower or so ;) I'm tempted to put my new all-terrains and 18"s on early but then again I wanna get some use out of my snow tires!

Later on, took her down the road to let her stretch her legs as she's been sitting for about a week. Went to the park and walked around for a bit. Did a throttle body and MAF sensor cleaning, and ECU reset along with some light dusting even though it's gonna rain tomorrow.
