I am putting a chevy v8, sm 465, and 3speed case in a fj60. It's what I have and very cheap for me since I have all the parts. My question is how to bolt up the fj60 driveshafts? The 3speed tcase has the drum brake off the back and not to mention the smaller rectangle bolt pattern. Who makes a flange for the front and rear outputs that will work? Can I get rid of the drum brake somehow? Or would making a hybrid older front driveshaft yoke to newer fj60 driveshaft be easier? Would like to use the fj60 driveshaft completely as I have spares. I posted this in the 60 section but thought it might be better suited for this forum.

If the driveshaft slip spline is the same just pull the tcase end off an older driveshaft and put iron the 60 driveshaft. Mix and match.

You can cut off the parking brake drum, I've heard of people doing that. I don't think you'll find a way to convert to the other bolt pattern. cruiser outfitters has the best selection of flanges and knowledge. I just put a split case in my 40 and converted flanges the opposite direction. I don't think it will work in your case though.

Good luck!

The splines are not the same as anything else. I had to lathe the drum off of the outside of the drum and redrill the flange for the larger FJ62/80 flange and bolts.

The driveshaft slip splines are the same.

You can mix and match driveshaft parts to get the U joint flanges you are looking for.

Yes but depending on the 3 speed case you may have 8mm driveshaft studs which is not a good idea with a V8. If you have the 10mm studs you should be ok but the early u-joints are weak as well.

Just re-drill and use the 11mm bolts and you will be good to go long term.

Truism. I have a 97 transfer to a 64 rear and a 78 front just by mixing and matching slip joints.
