What did you put in your military trailer today?

5 BFG A/Ts and 4 FZJ80 doors + camping gear = Zero room left in the trailer! I felt like Fred Sanford coming back from GSMTR :)

Didn't put anything in today, just pulled some stuff out. Paint was flaking badly on the wood rails and bows. Yanked all of them and sanded to remove all the old paint.(Pics will come Thurs.). Also wafered off all the loose metal rivets holding the wood on-plan on replacing with stainless bolts, if I can find large head carriage bolts to fit)--- but does anyone know the species of wood they used for the bows and side frames on an M101A2? Mine was built in '89 by Kasel in Pa. Looks very close to Mahogany to me(side rails). The bow pieces look to be Teak

Getting ready for the towns Christmas Parade " November 17th " Talk about early,
I will be pulling my 101A2 and 116A2 in tandem hitch on the rear of both and 101A2 wired for
a 7 pin trailer plug.

Pictures to follow.

The Military used Oak for all the wood pieces, rails, bows, seats, etc.

kool... I wanna see :)

I've always wanted to set up muh trailer and hauler
for a christmas parade...

Be kool if I could use Santa's deer on the sides
of muh truck... maybe silhouette cut outs
and design the trailer to be the sleigh.

But in reality...
It would be a miracle if I spent a nickle on simple lighting

Look forward to seeing your results

Yeah I know I need to get a different stinger, as the trailer tongue sits too high.

And then the view on my way home.

Taking out dumped building materials.

Couldn't make it up the hill on the first try and jacknifed it. So I had to disconnect and realign.

How she used to sit. Helped a buddy move and took the trailer up to highway speed on the old rubber. Came back and they were way more tired then normal. So right now I am working on new wheels and tires.

Even shrank her down once:

2.75 cords of wood. Nope, didn't go very far with that load. Beauty of living next to usfs land. That was one of half a dozen loads. My house is wood heat only and my shop has 2 wood burners in it. Truck didn't like that load very much but made it home no problem. Did another load the next day of 2.5 cord. This load was one large tree and then on the way out I saw that somebody had left a 20 foot stick of the base of a tree. So I threw a chain on it pulled onto the road cut it up ad topped off the load.

The Town of Oakmont, Pennsylvania, had their 17th annual Light Up Night Parade.
The Harley family entered a float and we used both of our rebuilt Army trailers for the event.
The M101A2 stacked high with toys to deliver to Santa, has a rear 2" receiver and a trailer plug on the rear cross member.
The M116A2 pulled duty behind and hauled a reindeer crate.

It was an easy tow through the parade and the trailers followed along perfectly.
We had a blast and are already thinking of a design for next year.

Happy Thanksgiving! and an early Merry Christmas to you!

Hey it floats, why not use it as a life boat if I get stuck on a water crossing?
