You boys know what time it is..... Where's my beer??

Got my new radiator, hoses, and thermostat done this morning.

Old and busted vs new and fresh.

This was really not a bad job. 4 bolts once you get everything out of the way. My PO had some pos after market radiator that was leaking from the top of the tank. I went with all OEM Toyota for all parts. Including new hose clamps:grinpimp:. After this, pretty much all my rubber under the hood has been replaced with new OEM over the past year. Also, just put a reman Toyota starter in a few weeks ago.

I know it's not the weekend yet, but I just received an ELM 327 transmitter in the mail and successfully hooked it up to my cell phone with the Torque Pro app for Android. THIS is truly an amazing capability for o/a $20.

:flipoff: Almost makes me wish I had OBII, almost.

Instead I ordered the EMS1 from Madman in South Africa. Was something like $450 CAD with Thermocouple, two fluid temp sensors and a pressure sensor, shipped.

Also monitors engine hours for service, battery voltage, pitch and roll and has a relay feature for engine shut off.

For all us pre-OBDII, this is a pretty sweet little device.

Also installed my road radio so I can not get run over by all the giant oil field trucks in the bush up here.
Confession: this was all done over the last two weekends.

I feel like such a slacker - took the cruiser out for a little grocery shopping, and played in the snow for just a wee bit.

Washed her. It'd been over a week. It's a lot of work keeping her clean and rust free in Iowa...

Also noticed the Rustoleum Bedliner rattle can spray I put on my Aluminum TJM bumper isn't holding up very well. Maybe it was the temperature when I painted it? meh.

None of that rattlecan bedliner s*** works. Just wait until the summer and redo it with Monstaliner, or whatever you want to roll on.

Yeah, I didn't like it once I had started. I want more texture. I'm Monstalining my truck this spring. Just want to get rid of the bare aluminum and banged out some dentage so was trying to hide that. It'll get Monstaliner when I do the rest of my truck. Or a new bumper if budget allows.

Another big weekend, the oil cooler showed up Thursday, so it was finally time to reinstall the upgraded (GTX) turbo and set everything up properly with a working wastegate and AFR gauge. Bit of a slow start yesterday, went to see a mate to get new lines made up for the turbo and oil cooler, kicked off with the spanners about lunchtime, but nothing went smoothly :bang:, 8 hours later, finally kicked it into life (first turn of the key and no glow, not too shabby for 4 weeks sitting still ;)) and went for a test drive, kept blowing boost lines off, so no gate and no gauge :bang:, gave up for the night, got up this morning and redid all the boost lines, moved a few things around and pressure tested successfully!, so hooked it back up to the plenum and tried again, this time with much more success, first run 21-22psi (gate pressure only - 1.5 bar worth of springs), wound up the boost a few turns and it was off to 27 psi! but AFR's sucked at 26:1, so I backed it off to 24psi and AFR is around 22-23:1 @ WOT, which is a huge improvement on the pre upgrade setup with the stuck gate running 32 psi @ 30:1. The upgraded comp wheel seems to make a bit of difference, definitely spooling faster, but I'll only see what it's really capable of once I get the pump and injectors done. For now though, the butt dyno is registering an improvement, and I'm happy to have it back running again! In discussion with a couple of places as to the best options for pump/injector packages, there's always 2 sides to a good story, so I'm doing as much research as possible before handing over the $$$. Also plumbed up my air tank and nitto fitting for tyre filling and rattle gun operation, installed flush tie down points in the rear, and will have to pull the oil cooler out again to fit the thermo fan when it shows up...:meh:

^^^^^nice rig. Jealous of the turbo diesel!

If you wheel your truck isn't that cooler under the bumper going to get smashed at some point???

Happened on my way to drill this morning. Looked down at my ultraguage and the temp was 230! Hopefully its just the thermostat.

Greased driveshafts, installed new "Tough Duck" seat covers, vacuumed interior, ordered a few more goodies for the rig, drove it over to work on my FJ40.

Yesterday my daughter and I took our 80 into Tillamook State Forest (Oregon) with group of 6 others from GitOut.com. Got to lightly try out my new Q78 Swampers. Turns out the tires made it a cake walk and also very enjoyable with the others. Here is a short video of the run made my another wheeler:

Looks great! Did you drill the manifold for the EGT on the truck? Where did you stick the display?
