How did the stereo install go?
I'm looking to upgrade my entire sound system (stereo, speakers ). I'm considering doing it myself but I've never installed a sound system before.
If you order from a place like Crutchfield they can make the harness adapter for the wiring. Makes a stereo install simple as taking the old on out and plugging the new one in. In the past I put on some speakers nothing fancy though. Used the stock wiring and crimped on new connectors. There are pretty limited options for speakers that will fit in the stock cut outs. It’s a pretty simple job if that’s all you are trying to achieve

Wasted, not saving or trying to restore, tossing it all.

Do remember how old these trucks are.

Amazing pics...a Safari trip is definitely on my (and my wife's) bucket list!

Come on...a POR-15 tank restore kit and you're all set on the tank at least... 🫨 LOL, the last time I used one of those kits was 25 years ago on my '52 Pontiac where a new tank was not a viable option, but it did work!

Same on a 1965 Nissan Patrol.

Cheers

Chasing an electrical gremlin... man, oh, man do I hate electrical work.

Rear ps signal stopped working. Did all of the usual checks (bulbs, fuses, relays, etc.). All good. So, starting at the socket and working my way into the quarter panel, then across to the ds side. Wish me luck... lol.

Just when I pat myself on the back for sorting out one problem... another pops up. The joys of owning a 32 y/o truck... but boy do I love it.

If it has a trailer plug hookup start there 😉

I’ve got all of that pulled… but the connectors on the main harness are still in place and the ground to the body under the tailgate is good, but I did go back and clean it up just in case. Not that either.

It looks like it’s somewhere else further upstream which is a total bummer. Checked for
Voltage at the plug that runs on the DS side by the spare tire… nothing…

Picked this up today and had the tow truck drop it off. 97 collectors edition 310k couple bumps on the body but overall in ok shape. California/Oregon truck so no rust, paint is pretty smoked but that’s fixable or just roll with it. Interior is 7/10.
The owner ran it low on oil and it has a rod knock so will get it in the shop and see what we can do. Might do rebuilt engine, might do a donor engine or might just roll some new bearings in it and see how that goes.

Hate to break it to you but that white one might be missing a couple parts.

Removed PO wiring for 2x trailer plugs and an Anderson plug - beats me why people will go to the extent they do to splice a stack of wires when you could spend a few bucks on some plugs and piggyback into the factory wiring harness.

I doubt it's back to 100% OEM but every connection is soldered, the ones I split apart have heatshrink and everything else has new tape.

Wil try and tuck it up again into some split loom tomorrow.
