Picked this up today and had the tow truck drop it off. 97 collectors edition 310k couple bumps on the body but overall in ok shape. California/Oregon truck so no rust, paint is pretty smoked but that’s fixable or just roll with it. Interior is 7/10.
The owner ran it low on oil and it has a rod knock so will get it in the shop and see what we can do. Might do rebuilt engine, might do a donor engine or might just roll some new bearings in it and see how that goes.

If you’re interested in selling the front bumper @Fj80oregon please let me know. Could also hand off my stock front bumper.

Got a fresh set of moldings in for the 80, just waiting on the two rear and new marker lights.

Are you getting precut rears or are you carving the cutout yourself? I need to find the two rear pieces and the front two for the doors that don’t say “four wheel drive”. Quite difficult since some pieces are NLA. Curious how you’re going about it.

The none four wheel drive are long gone from my searches. The rear I am cutting out. The precut ones are long gone also. Partsouq had 6 out of 8 in stock the rear two I got from a eBay seller in japan. There are full 8 piece kits on eBay for $500 which is not much more than buying individual pieces from partsouq after paying shipping and tariffs.

Moving on to interior work. Only thing that hasn't been replaced drivetrain/chassis wise are U joints, front control arms (need deltas), body mounts, and probably 4.56 gears someday, SC, etc etc.

Will need a second car seat pretty soon, so I was test fitting and noticed the rear drivers side seat belt wouldn't lock after being fully extended. Funny enough this was the only seat belt that was an aftermarket unit. Found an OEM one in great shape, so we're good to go.

Replaced many burned out bulbs and got all new HVAC buttons. Couldn't fix the tape player unfortunately. Next up will be all 4 doors ... adding sound deadening, new window runs and regulators... right after this heat wave passes.

Congratulations on the new LC lover.

I found the squeak in my truck. Ended up being the front drive shaft. So, I removed that to take back to the shop that built it. I ended up finding the invoice from 2018 and stumbled across a print out of my LX450 sale post from 2013. From MO it made its way to OH. Both are/were Mud member. My LX came with a lot of receipts/emails. Still in good hands, 13 years later and now 235k miles

Yes, same from my research as well; it’s well documented. I have all of the moldings but one of the panels is blank and the other says, “four wheel drive”. I have to decide whether I want to use the factory ones of aftermarket. I’d like to see how you cut the rears out and see the end result.

I’ll post up when I cut them, I know @SNLC has done this in the past.

I bought a 2nd full kit set from china $163 last December. They couldn't print them out as blanks when I reached out to them. Has that “four wheel drive” logo. 😔

Ya you can also buy them from the dealership right here in the USA.

Cheers

had added a Scan Guage 3 a few weeks back, first extended driving today. Realizing we have an overheating problem. :( coolant temp is 180-198 while wheeling in the wooded mountains. Driving home for an hour got up to 223, at that temp AC cuts off.

New fan, blue hub, but not modded… relatively new radiator I think from PO. Is shiney silver at least. All new hoses/belts and rear heater delete couple months ago as it was being rebaselined by ACG here in Atlanta metro.

Dunno where the issue is yet, but glad I had the SG3 so I could see what was happening.

Any big driving spot lights installed in front of your radiator? That could restrict air glow into the rad.
