What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

The shims sit inside the center recess of the front clutch plate/hub. My shims were stuck in the hub, and I dug them out with a pick. If you get a kit, then you'll have plenty of options, but sometimes it's nice to measure what was there before and, as a first try, put enough in there to match or barely exceed the previous threshold.

Simplified steps should be something like:

1. Stator/coil
2. Belt pulley/rotor
3. Shims in the back/center pocket of the front clutch plate
4. Front plate onto the shaft then install and tighten the center bolt

Thread 'A/C Clutch replacement'

My A/C went warm yesterday while driving down the freeway, and upon inspection at home, when I turn on the a/c, the outer ring of the clutch engages, but the inner ring does not. If I recall correctly, when engaged, everything should spin. I'm hoping it is just the clutch, so I'm going to just replace that.

Any advice, special tools, tricks to getting this done?
In all my searches, most of y'all just breeze over this process or just mention that you replaced your clutch. Is it that easy?

My compressor was kind of noisy, and I suspect the bearings were going out as the clutch...

Ope that would explain where it went. Just went out to the garage, slammed the old one on the floor and the shim manifested.

I think it was the very dry fall/winter and now we are getting a lot of precipitation. We are in Sedona this week and the buggers are terrible. Wife looks like a pin cushion! Not sure that is correct but without foggers, candles, and bug spray, it is no fun outside.

Put this in today. It’s made well and will work very well if you carry bottles or big cups. The ad on the site said holds two standard sized cups. The driver’s side is big and a 22oz yeti tumbler was quite loose, so for any standard sized, it’s big. I put some foam and Velcro tabs on the inside to tighten it up and a rubber bottom I had lying around so it holds a koozie or yeti cup now. The passenger side is really big. It will hold a big bottle like Nalgene, etc. I have ordered an insert from Amazon that will fit it there and has tabs to hold normal sized cups, I hope.
It’s a good addition if you regularly carry big water bottles or big diameter cups. I probably wouldn’t have ordered it if I would have known that normal cups, cans, koozies, etc. would rattle around in it, but I think I can fix it and make it work for my needs. It’s printed nicely, shipping was fast, etc.

I finally got the quads setup, pretty happy with how they turned out. The conversion wiring from Iron Slug is top notch.

quad housing setup is an ebay buy, I couldn't justify paying top dollar for the nice ones then paint them black, the ebay version painted flat black works for me

We have come up with a FOB that uses ALL Toyota parts and is Plug & Play! No low quality EBay Chinese FOB here, it’s as I say, 100% OEM! The hardest part of the install will be pulling the door card and reinstalling it! It will work in a variety of Cruisers but we are-have developed this for the 80-series first. Now this is NOT an alarm system and NO we can’t integrate remote start. It is simply “keyless” entry using Toyota Land Cruiser parts to build a kit anyone can install.

Yes it is. It’s fine. The recovery points in the front are kind of a joke bc a shackle doesn’t like a rectangular hole very much. I don’t know what those were designed for other than looks maybe?
Theres a Giant hole under the winch is kind of a weird design and I’m going to be closing it up and adding two round recovery points down near the frame in the future.
POD lights don’t fit super clean. Overall I’m fine with it for how cheap it was compared to some other options. They also had some frame reinforced plates being offered but for some reason they don’t have them anymore. I’d recommend making your own versions of those too so you can wrap the bumper mounts all the way around the frame horns.
Hole thing under winch.

Are the edges rounded on the recovery points ?
I can’t tell from the picture
If so They’re probably designed for soft shackles.
There all the rage these days and rightfully so.
