Came here to post this from last weekend and got sidetracked by the hi-lift talk:

Kids and I had lunch by a little creek off of 14A in the Bighorns w/ the local club, LCWY. Went as far down the road as we could then back out.

Then this weekend took the Slip Rd into Kaycee to go shoot a match and absolutely destroyed a deer on the way. Deer #4 on this bumper and this one did the most damage. So, now it’s relocate the AC drier time cuz it got got. Deer had a worse day though I suppose.

Took it like a champ. I just barely put that mesh back in there cuz deer keep knocking it out. 😆😑

I'm going to guess if the pulley rotates with great resistance, I messed up somewhere :bang:
Did you remember to add shims to the pulley before assembling? Sometimes it takes a few attempts to get the right amount. Too big a gap and the clutch will never engage, and not enough of a gap and you'll get resistance.

There weren't any shims that I could find during disassembly but I have ordered a set.

For my own sanity, do they go on before the stator? Or do they go on after the pressure plate is installed? I've been reading through threads and the FSM

I'm also questioning if I tapped the rotor back on a little too hard. Going to check that when I go back in

The shims sit inside the center recess of the front clutch plate/hub. My shims were stuck in the hub, and I dug them out with a pick. If you get a kit, then you'll have plenty of options, but sometimes it's nice to measure what was there before and, as a first try, put enough in there to match or barely exceed the previous threshold.

Simplified steps should be something like:
  1. Stator/coil
  2. Belt pulley/rotor
  3. Shims in the back/center pocket of the front clutch plate
  4. Front plate onto the shaft then install and tighten the center bolt
They should be hanging out inside this guy

Bought a small swamp cooler for working in the garage during the HOT AZ summers. To make it Cruiser related, I took the Cruiser to Home Depot to get the swamp cooler.

Home Depot swamp cooler
I did the same thing but starting in mid July through September, it still was nasty. Then tried a large room air conditioner in the door, it cooled it down to the mid 80s but was a paint to set up every day and cut into my wrenching time. Finally put in a mini split. What a difference! It is so much nicer to work on a vehicle when you are comfortable and without sweaty hands.

Got two thick coats of thermal coating on the body, more engine assembly completed, more painting over rust converter, and the never-ending cleaning continued.

After 8 months of looking, I finally found a an ARB front bumper for a great price and was able to get it on today. I think this really transformed and completed the look. Pretty stoked even though it was super humid and over 100 heat index when getting it all done.
