If you can get to a store and buy a ton of distilled water do it. Dump the coolant and run the water till you can get home.

After confirming I am leak free for the first time since I bought the truck 7 months ago after rear main seal and front pump seal replace- I degreased the undercarriage as best I could. This is a big day with no leaks after having major coolant, power steering and multiple oil leaks. View attachment 4169229View attachment 4169230View attachment 4169231
Now that is a great feeling. Accomplished the same just recently. It took me quite a while longer to accomplish. The last leak I fixed was the engine oil level sensor. ha ha. Good job.

Ordered tires from discount for the hdj81. The old coopers have 55k on them. I decided to go with the geolandar my this time

Running the Geolanders on our 80. So far, like them a lot.

Currently running Geolander G015's on one 80, and G018's on another, I really them both. I've run the G015's on a Tundra, 4-Runner, GX470, GX460 and my Dad's LX470, they have always been great for FS roads, wet, snow and ice, wear has been great, they stay quiet as they wear and have not had issues with balancing. I don't do any hardcore wheeling, so I can't comment on that.

Sometimes I really hate Toyota.

These are bushings for the side gears inside your CDL assembly inside your tcase. These are clearly a wear item and these ones sure are worn.

You can buy all the other parts inside the CDL except these! The only way to get these is to buy the whole CDL assembly. WTAF Toyota? So worn bushings will cost $700+ for a new CDL assembly. Same thing on 100-series too.

Dumb 🤦‍♂️

Cheers

Freeze plug gushing at the back of the head. Yes it is at the firewall with zero access.

This engine was out not long ago, now it has to come out again to fix this. It’s always fun fixing other people’s disasters.

🤦‍♂️

Cheers

I haven't read a single bad thing.
You'll like them. We've got 35s on my wife's 80. Wheeled with them a number of times (and DD it). Some road noise, as to be expected, but not bad.

Replaced the driver’s side rear window vent. I did the passenger side a few weeks ago because it was broken and this one looked fine. Yesterday the weatherstripping was hanging down the side of the truck, so I replaced it. Also worked on the OEM jack a little. Scraped some rust- made sure it worked smoothly- put rustoleum rust reformer on and then a top coat of bed liner. Still works fine, so remounted it in its spot.

You should check the very bottom of the inside of those rear fenders for any rust too...Especially towards the front of the rear fender. It's hard to see from the outside because the stock bumper covers it...it's hard to see anyway. But look from the inside.
I think I have those exact roof rack grab handles 😜...From Amazon for like $10? They've been great and only about $125+ less than what other outfits sell them.

Did the big end bearings yesterday. There were no signs or noises that would indicate this wear.

The biggest hassle was to remove the oil pan.

Easy after that.

The bad one is from cylinder 6 top bearing.
1hdt driven 465000km
No info on if this had been done before but the pan has clearly been dropped before.

Yes I actually had some rust cut out down there and metal welded in when I had it painted. Those grab handles have been just fine and the price was certainly right ! 🍻
