out of interest, what bulb did you use, from what i gather you have manually replaced the bulb in the original holder.
i would like to know as getting the replacement bulb/holder as one here in Aus is becoming a bit of a challenge and very pricey for what they are
That's correct. New bulb in original holder. Here is the link:

Couldn't figure out why I couldn't get my headlight bulb out. Finally just removed the grill and headlight housing. Apparently the HDJ80's are completely different than the FZJ80's. The first bulb pictured with the single prong, is the low-beam. The second one with the 3 prongs, is the high-beam.

Added a 1fz-fe nameplate to the engine. I did the valve cover gasket not long ago and it’s been waiting patiently for its turn to be “installed”. 11291-66010

Added new washer nozzles. 85381-42070

I installed 01-05 Lexus GS300 visors using outsane’s lx430 brackets and clips. The brackets and clips worked well. I bought new warning inserts for the 80 series visors not too long ago so put them on the new ones.

The gs300 must have a slightly different mounting angle than the 430 visors since there is a little contact with the headliner when opening to the side. Not a big deal.

The visors have the same issue where they need to be fully retracted for the light to work.

Needed a way to mount a couple Jerry cans on the @Delta VS rear bumper. Wanted it to be good (better than Amazon junk), fast (less than a couple hours of mods/welding) and cheap (in this context ~$300 or so - love ya delta but no way I'm dropping a grand to tote 2 fuel cans).

This backwoods adventure mods lockable double model seemed like a minimal compromise- Jerry's Can Holder - Dual Universal Jerry Can Carrier - https://backwoodsadventuremods.com/products/jerrys-can-dual-universal-jerry-can-holder

Had to step bit out the holes a bit to use a beefier fastener, but aside from that fits up pretty well. I was planning on adding some angle iron on top of the arm to get the mounting point up a bit more but after putting my 200lb self on it it seems to deflect minimally. Should be fine for 60 pounds of liquids.

Hi @suzuguru Outer lamps are H4 (dual low/high beam) inner lamps H1 (high beam) on the Euro headlights

Thanks for the info. I just did enough reading to figure that out. Any idea of the wattage that the headlight wires can handle? Also, I don't want to blind oncoming traffic.

I'd say up to 150W would be fine per circuit. I recently changed them for Osram nightbreakers... low beam still bad, high beam ok but hard to get more out of the old headlight design. Many H4/H1 led options out there but nothing approved/tested for the 80 series headlights afaik.

I took my 1FZ-FE out for the first real drive since my restoration and was surprised to have quite a bit more power. I wasn't expecting any gains because I thought everything was working well, but I took it up a long steep mountain highway where I usually end up dropping down to 50, only to cruise up it at 62 without having to floor it. It's running quieter and smoother too. Best guesses for the root cause are:

1) All new ignition system is delivering better spark
2) All new fuel system is delivering better spray
3) Cumulative vacuum leaks were allowing too much unmetered air
4) One or more of the old sensors and/or valves were not working properly

It's a very noticeable difference every time I put my foot down.

We had plans to take a trip to Bentonville for some MTB riding, but my son hurt his back and is on 4 weeks of no riding. Do we had to redirect our activity and decide to paint his car that he will get for his birthday tomorrow! Here are a few before and after. It's our first paint job. It's not perfect but we are very pleased and my son is very proud of the job we did.
