Help, please! I have spent the last couple months of weekends doing mechanical repairs to my 91 FJ 80 that has yet to run. I have had most of the front end apart, replaced the fuel tank, pump and sender, just finally got a new starter in today and am still dealing with the same symptoms. Turn key, power to dash, click from starter (old and now new, same thing) and hear the fuel pump engaging. Have tried this with two different batteries, one which I am POSITIVE is good because I pulled it out of my taco. What should I investigate next? Is it on to the distributor? Do I need to trace and make sure fuel is actually getting to the rail? I work at a repair shop and have a good educational background on repairs but not so much the practical end. I would appreciate any advice to get my dear Imogene on the road! P.S. I do have a video of the condition if that helps.
No crank or no start?
I joined the PHH club.
There was no way I could get my hand down to start the bolt on the bottom bracket, so I made the tool on the bottom left from a plastic milk carton, with a hole to keep the bolt captive and a partial slit so I could pull it out once the bolt was started. It worked well.
I'll also plug a new favorite tool, the Tekton 12 and 14mm long flex head ratcheting wrench. I got it for the bottom bracket bolt but it's already come in very handy, with good access and Toyota friendly sizes.

We need more infoPower to dash, fuel pump engages, single click from starter solenoid every time, no crank, no start. Crank does turn over by hand.
Check the grounds to the engine block and body. If you have a poor ground the battery can't supply sufficient amperage to power the starter.
Appreciate the guidance, will troubleshoot tomorrow! That starter is a real fun one to put in so I’m done for the day. Thanks @cruiserdan.

I had VW Vanagon Syncro that needed a starter (super pain in the ass to install) so I went to the dealer and to get one, installed, and it wouldn't work. I went back to the dealer to get a new one and installed, again it didn't work. I racked my brain to thinking of all the other things that it could be when actually it was 2 bad starters.

Picked up a Kaymar tire carrier/swing out. It was designed to be run with the oem bumper (which is long gone).
Used some scrap that I had in the shop to make a spacer, drilled holes through the rear crossmember and mounted the carrier up. Turned out just fine…

Yep we get that a lot with alternators as well. The one in the AutoZone down the road from me super cheap ($0) and works brilliantly. YMMV
