This weekend. Failed state inspection because of the hole on the y pipe. While I was moving the y pipe to get it out I saw a little bit of antifreeze dripping off the heat shield. So for this weekend I removed the y pipe, hoping to weld the hole. I looked over the pipe and the "butt crack" part of the y pipe was open. So I got a new magnaflow y pipe. I took the heat shields off and took all the rusted metal pipes running to rear heater off the Land Cruiser. Finally removed all the hoses to do the rear heater bypass. Now I just have to put it all back together. Maybe that will be next weekend
Went camping with my son's Boy Scout troop at Garner State Park west of San Antonio (I hate state parks). Took my '91 and she performed flawlessly for the 250mi round trip. Got 13+ mpg also. Not bad considering we went up and down lots of hills and stayed at 70mph.
We set up camp at night. The next morning when we woke up, there was a '97 TLC parked a couple of spots down from us. Ended up meeting the driver and turns out he inherited it from his in-laws and they were the original owners. Really nice guy, but he didn't seem to really appreciate what he had, and said he just uses it to camp every now and then. 1997, White, lockers with 165K original miles in great condition. I'm praying to see it again one day so I can make him an offer for it!!!!!

Not a huge fan of state parks but beggars can't be choosers in Texas. Now Idaho they had some good state parks. lol.
New owner here. Removed running boards. Steam cleaned (rug doctor with attachement) the carpet interiors. Amazing how well it cleaned up and looked when i sucked the 18 years of kids and dogs out of the interior.
Put on the Eurow $95 amazon sheep skin seat covers. They fit like a dream. Highly recommend them if you are wanting a solution to the aging seats.

Man, did you really pay almost $50 each for those from Amazon? LCI sells them for $25 each with free shipping on orders over $50
Took the Cruiser to Rausch Creek on Sat. Being stock, I kept it on the green trails. Still dragged its but of more rocks than I could count. Broke the exhaust downpipe, popped the ECM fuse (no idea why that went) and lost a front flare on the ride home. And it was my daughter's first wheeling trip. All in all, a great day!

I salvaged my trashed front bumper and made new rear wheel arches to allow me to stretch the rear wells 3" to allow my 40's room to stuff and some extra clearance.
Replaced my ECU with a *221 out of a 94 to get rid of codes 83-85.
Tried to do the zip tie mod for my shaky PS mirror and failed - too much breakage in there. Both a side clip and the bottom of the mechanism are broken. The bottom is broken enough that I see plastic gears for the adjustment mechanism. The zip tie should be ok for a temp solution, but because the bottom is broken it isn't as good as I would like plus the visible gears are troubling. A local yard has a PS mirror assembly that matches my color, so that will be fixed next weekend (I hope). At least it is an easy fix.
My DS mirror is worse though and there are no local part to replace it with; the PO decided to "fix" the mirror with lots of epoxy glue or something. I am surprised I can still adjust it. (Maybe he talked to the guy at the yard who says "don't remove the mirror from the assembly because you can't ever get them glued back in right.") I can't get the mirror out of the housing to see what the damage is, but looking through the cracks, I may need a whole new housing if it ever starts to shake. So much for preventative maintenance.

I hear you on the state parks although Big Bend Ranch State Park is awesome. Nobody goes there so you basically have the whole desert to yourself. Their backcountry sites are pretty sweet for not much traffic. Fire rings and a picnic table at everyone camp site. The roads are nice and rough to keep out the majority of people.
