What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (26 Viewers)

Recently installed the cheapest ($33) rear cargo mat option that I'm aware of. It's not great quality but does have a few nice features beyond just being cheap. The main benefit of this vs some of the other options I've looked at or used is that this mat is relatively light and thin so it is easy to remove, shake off and reinstall. It also fits the space pretty well and stays in place well vs some of the harder, more "plastic" feeling options that slide around.

It's not durable enough for really heavy use and since it doesn't have turned up edges dirt/water/etc. will just run off the edges but it's a decent option for our 80s I think.

Dual battery setup is complete* for now. The leaky rear axle seal and worn shoes were also replaced. And it got a much-needed alignment.

*A winch isolator with switch will be installed down the road. For now the winch stays disconnected until we need to use it.

Tracked down a coolant leak that ended up being the FHH. A real pain but managed to swap hoses with the throttle body on! Glad to have the it back on the road within 24 hours of it dumping coolant. Next day I let my girlfriend use the Land Cruiser and she says there’s no steering when she went to leave her parking spot……

Based on the rust, I'd say that sector has been fractured for a while. I bet the splines are twisted. Good thing it happened where it did.

I think the fracture happened a couple months ago at rubicon. Haven’t drove it much since besides around town. Definitely lucky it happened in a parking spot! Now I just have to manage to get it towed and onto my driveway that I have to parallel park in

what was your fix on the oil pressure gauge? ive replaced the sender and harness already and still reads maxed out

Did you accidentally ground it out? I think you have to fix the actual gauge in the dash. So take out the dash and inspect the gauge.

Those tailgate hatches look just like the ones I used on my truck (except mine were black). Pretty nice hatches I think, if you're doing a DIY setup.

Those tailgate hatches look just like the ones I used on my truck (except mine were black). Pretty nice hatches I think, if you're doing a DIY setup.

I got the idea for those from someone on here, maybe you? I recessed them a bit in the hatch board to make sitting on the tailgate more comfortable, wherever you are, and I'm really happy with the setup.

For my uses two hatches, plus a non hatched area is ideal. It means you don't have to clear the tailgate to open a single full width hatch and there's a space in the middle that won't need to be cleared to get into either hatch, etc. The contents in one side, vs. the other, are pretty clearly separate so I rarely need to get in both sides at the same time. It's mostly recovery gear in one side and tools in the other, roughly.

The only change I'd make would be a single latch on each hatch so that it was a little quicker getting in/out of them but that's a small change that would compromise the integrity of the hatches so I'm fine with how they are setup.

Correct and they are for an 80-series chassis that we stretched 13” so even more custom fit.

Since I no longer daily the 80 I have a hard time keeping the house battery charged. Which is weird because it's disconnected most of the time.
Anywho, i bought a NOCO 2a hard mounted charger to keep it plugged in while it's parked. This should hold me over until I get the solar setup installed.
