Absolute whirlwind of a week. Flew out and purchased this 97 HDJ81 sight unseen, then drove it home nearly 1200 miles in 2 days. Took it for its first wheeling trip this afternoon and had a blast. Looking forward to building it out for camping and tougher trails

Looks great! Where did you find it for sale?

Recently Headlights will turn on but would not turn off. I have had the Slee light harness for around ten years which utilizes 2 30a relays. Started there and that was it! Lucky for me this could have been more complicated, from the threads I’ve read!

It can definitely be a PITA. I ended up buying a new kit a few months ago as mine would not turn on. Where did you get just the relays? Thinking of picking a few up for the future as Amazon failed me when I tried to get some before buying a whole new kit.

That's cool you are keeping the rear heat and not doing the trendy rear heat delete. I love having extra heat.
The 1HD-FT in my 80 runs seemingly very cool, so any extra heat is welcomed. On the hwy @ 120 kph [75mph] the needle rises above the lower marker, but a few minutes after exiting the hwy the temp drops. It runs strong, and I have no reason to think it's anything more than a diesel running cool when not run hard. But maybe I should use a heat gun and verify temperature.... The temperature runs very steady so I believe my thermostat is working properly, but maybe it's opening too early....

Here are a couple pics from last nights country road run where I enjoyed the extra heat...

Amazon. $6 each

Removed the factory running boards and cleaned her up for a potential BaT listing. Can't decide what to do. Love this thing but I'm just too tall to comfortably drive it and our boys are only getting bigger as well. BaT wants to list it 'no reserve' but I don't know if I could risk it going super low on a down week.

Why not try selling it on here? You might get the price you want.

Stopped by RITO on Saturday afternoon to check out the vendor booths. Wasn't disappointed: scored a pair of "color blemish" Actiontrax for $100. Now to find the best way to mount them.

Also got a set of 3 Ratchet Rangler organizers. No more rats nest of ratchet straps in the recovery bag.

I've gotta ask. How tall?

I have never seen these things help a stuck rig 🤷‍♂️

I found them to be more useful in creative situations. Not necessarily when a vehicle is stuck, but when you're crossing some sketchy spots and want better footing. That and those "I have an idea" scenarios seem to be where they shine the most. 😅

I've seen them bolted to rigs i know arent going anywhere to get stuck.

Like the jeep Cherokee that always parks next to me. Winch. Roof rack. Factor55 stick that says "built to adventure". Stock street tires.

I have a set of maxtraxx pros on my Uberlander. They get use both snow wheeling and on the beach (usually to recover other people).

I don't bother on the trail rig. There's nothing that will stick that that boards will help with.

I can see them on occasion. I just laugh because usually when I see them they're on something that'll never need them

When I was in Oregon a rig was trying to use them to get out of the sand. I got tired of watching and winched them out.
