I did this...

It will get fancier when I replace the top with a backlit laser cut Land Cruiser logo :)

Speaking of which, I need to get that image file from you. Hopefully will use it on a can carrier project.

We are going to the FJ Summit and I decided to take the FZJ80 also, so I had to finish up my bumper project that has been "in process" for way to long (nothing like a deadline to get you off your butt).
Well I finished stage 1 at lest which is the main bumper (swing outs and hitch to follow).

So to finish it up consisted of mostly all the finish welding which was a lot of fun on a hot weekend with temps in the shop in the 90's.
The bumper is all aluminum, I'm gonna add some doubler plates to the shackle points but other than that its done, at this point weighs 39lb. With swing outs and everything my goal is to keep it under 100lb.View attachment 917222 View attachment 917223 View attachment 917224
Oh man that is pretty. I agree that you need to leave those welds.

Amazing looking bumper - and aluminum! if you ever consider making another I would get in line for that. Great work!

Wow very impressive!!!!

Seriously, make me one, that's awesome! Great welding!

@DylanICON THAT IS DROP DEAD SEXY!

Damn I gotta learn how to weld! I'm enrolling myself to a program ASAP!

Thanks!

plan was to only grind if the welds came out crapy. Also I'm just going to leave it raw and scotch brite it once a year. That way I can add to it whenever I want if a tab or bracket is needed. did the same on the roof rack so light mounts and tent brackets can be added whenever.

I'll take one, can I get it with a matching aluminum tire carrier? ;)

Thanks for the compliments.

We will see how the swing out turns out. I've started it but it wasn't far enough along to put on for this trip.

I'd like to think I could make more but I have to be honest with myself and my horrible concept of time. It would take me forever to get it done.

There are a couple of things about this design that bug me. It looks kinda funny from certain angles. If it bugs me enough to change it then maybe ill laser cut a few next time. Ill see how it looks with the swing outs.

Thanks again
D

Mad skills....Seriously!!

that's beautiful Dylan ! Great work .....looking forward to seeing you continue your build.

cheers

I spent the weekend removing the interior carpet. Hand scrubbing it, and washing it.
Then I laid down some Thermozite Heat Shield Carpet Padding, and another layer of Automotive Carpet Pad Tan 1/2 Inch Thick on top of that in the foot wells only.
Here is the link to the Thermozite Heat Shield Carpet Padding and Automotive Carpet Pad Tan 1/2 Inch Thick:

I am pretty pleased with the results.

Here is the padding before I used high temp headliner spray adhesive to glue it down.

Here is the carpet while I was scrubbing it.

Wow most had much more fun than I did. If I EVER have to do this again I'm poking my eyes out with something sharp first!

Washed it in hopes it would make it rain, to no avail in my part of the valley.

Ridgemaster- It might help to relocate those monster lights out of the airflow path for the radiator
I agree. I looked at those damn lights and liscense plate the whole trip knowing those weren't helping matters.
