Too much time on my hands.

Vinyl'd the TOYOTA lettering with the American flag and old Japanese Rising Sun flag. Hitting it with some clear coat to hopefully prevent pealing.

SS3s? Looks nice and much more reasonably priced than others it seems. I’m considering them for the 200 if I can find a way to mount in the OEM bumper. Must have tagged a rock on the last trip - just noticed the passenger side is busted. Might as well upgrade!
Yeah, that’s them. The “sport” ones. They have a “pro” and “Max” version also. I can’t imagine how powerful those must be. They’re like double and almost triple the cost of the ones I bought.

Finally got her off pavement! Owned the rig since March, but this was my first chance to test out 4L and make sure the center diff locker properly engages/disengages. Worked like a charm. Nothing extreme, just tooled around on the back half of my inlaws' property for a little while.

My wife had gone down there w/my Father-In-Law the day before in his F-150 FX4 to clear some deadfall from a recent storm. She told me to "be extra careful" because the trail was "really rough," made the pickup bounce all over with some of the rocks making her scared the truck would flip. She went with me the next day and afterward said, "wow, in the Land Cruiser it felt like none of that stuff was even there." 😁

Forgive the :poop:-eating grin, but was having a good time (I imagine I have that dopey look often while driving my Cruiser, lol!)

Stripped out the interior so that I can prep for Second Skin sound deadener, replace the stereo and speakers and run some wiring for future electrical additions

I am about half way done with mine. If I had to do it all over again, I would use Lizard skin sound deadener and their ceramic coating. Thinner, easier to work with and much less time consuming. After what I have spent on the mats and insulation, I bet the cost is comparable....

Left the '80 at home. Left the other '80 at home. Left the other other 80 at home too. Took the Subaru "expeditioning". I've never been a fan of using a sledgehammer to swat a fly and no matter what you call a road trip, it is still a road trip. Took an 1800 mile round trip jaunt up and down the Parks, The Steese, The Elliot and the Dalton Highways to reach the Arctic Ocean. Checked out the hazards that "Ice Road Truckers whined about (yawn). Saw some wildlife (Didn't manage to get the wolves to hold still for the camera though.) :frown: Dodged a few trucks and a few more potholes. Passed by wildfires, passed through a couple storms, visited the cultural hotspot that is Deadhorse Alaska. Had breakfast and a day later, dinner at the roadhouse in Coldfoot Alaska. The only fuel on the Dalton Highway. Pretty much the only place with humans on the Dalton Highway... and they have a cook there who is amazing. The dinner menu is... whatever he feels like cooking. Trust me, it will be good! A buttload of dirt and gravel road and only one windshield chip. Every time one of those haul rigs passes you you are cringing and hoping. Next week will be maintenance on a couple of the '80s ahead of a little trail time where the Suby just is not the right choice. ;)

I really struggled with the different choices available in sound deadening and sound absorbing. I didn’t want to go with a cheap product that would smell like hot asphalt in the Texas heat. In the end I went with Second Skin’s spray on sound dampener. I’ll follow up with their ceramic heat barrier over the transmission tunnel and the cats and on the inside of the firewall. Second Skin’s 15% off everything sale last weekend sealed the deal.

Quick camping trip. Got a real weekend off for the first time in a while.

The scan gauge is a curse. Wished I never came across one. Now I fine myself obsessed observing at the ECT readings while driving!

I seem to be obsessed with the average gas mileage which is never better than 10.5 miles per gallon. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, I have a lot of heavy gear on and in my rig.

i'm obsessed as well from day 1. Hypermiling for that extra 0.1mpg... Watching the water and air temp like a hawk. But then, my UltraGauge keeps me awake on those long hauls. If i recognize i stop looking at it for 5 miles, then i'm sure it's time for a rest area :D

Didn't think i would be using this tool ever again but the pump was leaking from the little orifice on the back end. New pump is in but i will skip step 5 until the morning and go directly to step 6.

QPM finally in. OBA system pressure tested on the truck with lockers engaged - Lost 3 PSI in an hour. I think I can live with that.

I would track down that leak.

I have a system on my van (for airbags and wheelchair lift) that I keep pressure on the airbags 100% of the time. I currently have a leak I cannot find and the pump cycles once every 30 minutes. It has killed my battery cycling over the weekend. I had to install a shut off switch so it doesn't maintain pressure.

If you're on the trail or use these for lockers, you're going to want that to hold pressure while the truck is shut off.
