@Wrencher93 They are 315/70/17 though the sidewall says 35x12.50 (pretty close at any rate.) I have them on my Tacoma as well (smaller size) and got them for the LX based on that experience--they have done better in snow for me than KO2's and seem to hang in other situations as well as the BFGs did...I'm quite happy. This set did great on our Colorado/Moab trip and the sidewalls seem to flex pretty well when aired down (a concern I had as the size on the LX is E-rated.)

Drove it to the cabin after head gasket. It’s been two years since I’ve driven it more than 50 miles. All the leaks are gone and no issue to report after 250 mile drive. My only concern is that there’s still some oil in the cooling system. I did my best to flush out but it’s still there, any suggestion to get it completely cleaned out.

I took a hose and flushed it with the head off

I ran a bunch of hot water through the heater cores and radiator. The engine was completely dry as it was a different one from the one in the car. It was cheaper to buy a complete used engine than just buying a new cylinder head. The cylinder head had a cracked between cylinder 5&6. While it was out, I did the head gasket and all seals.

Right of passage for ya there! Now add the knuckles and you're officially an 80 owner!!! Haha. Congrats on the new rig. Enjoy!!!!
Ah man thank you!
and fortunately the knuckles have already been rebuilt by Torfab in Everett. So im def happy about that one. Appreciate the good vibes!

I just put lt255/80/17 wildpeak on my 5th gen 4Runner. They have transformed the truck into a way better machine in man ways. No more crack tracking on the highway, quieter, Smoother off-road. Can’t wait to test in the snow!

Fixed a front end clunk I've had for a while now. Simple really, the front two bolts were not torqued to spec on the radius arm/axle. I recently discovered that my 1/2" torque wrench is busted and inaccurate, so I'm now a little nervous about what else I might have used it for. I don't think I've used it much, thankfully. I use my 3/8" for most everything under 100 and haven't had much to torque above 100 lately (got the big 300 lb wrench in anticipation of the front main).

If anybody has any experience rebuilding/calibrating a torque wrench, I'm all ears.

I’ve got a clunk too. Could you tell what it was at first on a lift or did you just start torquing bolts?

Rebuilding knuckles on my junkyard donor axle.
No pics of knuckles, but used the little bandsaw to turn the 300k mile ABS sensors into ABS sensor delete plugs.

Great solution

We offer ABS sender plugs for those without a bandsaw at $10 a pair shipped

I first replaced my swaybar links (the ones that look like little ball joints) because I have beat them up working under the truck and figured they needed replacing anyway, but that didn't help with the clunk. I also pulled the swaybar and the front driveshaft for diagnosis, but nothing there either. I read up on MUD and found loose suspension bolts to be a common theme in front end clunk, so I just started tightening bolts et viola! 130 ft pounds is a lot of torque, so I'm betting my faulty torque wrench only got them part way there, but the clunk didn't appear until after I had done some miles to loosen things up.

I couldn't tell by wiggling/jiggling or looking, but as soon as I put the wrench on them, it was obvious they weren't very tight.

Took the LX for state inspection and the garage told me I had a significant fuel leak from the #1 injector ... I have no sense of smell (not Covid related) and could not smell the fuel, but could see it streaming out once I knew where to look. Lesson learned, if you do your head gasket and notice the truck taking longer than normal to start while cranking it, start looking for a fuel leak.

An entire head gasket re-build taken down by this ...

Disassembled everything needed to replace the o-ring, luckily I saved the old ones as just in case. Took me 2.5 hours to get the washers and banjo bolt back into the fuel filter, such a tight fit from up top and I don't know whose arms could fit in from the wheel well or what knuckle dragger can reach it from their back underneath either.

Once the upper plenum was back on the hard part is over and goes quickly ... except when you accidentally pull off the 12mm socket from the extension when tightening the lower throttle body bolts and the socket disappears into the abyss and doesn't hit the floor. Took the TB back off and looked for it from all angles ... GONE. It belongs to the truck now. I will let it keep it as a trophy for surviving the repair process.

Just got the call now that it is done and passed inspection now. It's been down almost a year for repairs. Hoping it lasts a good long time again now
