Got some new shocks. :)
Stage 5 Slinky rear dual bypass shocks to go with the front ones I got about a month ago. These are about 1.5" long stroke than the Stage 4's that came off, so little more droop I guess. Also repainted my rear slinky coils that were pretty badly chipped from the past 5 years under the truck.

I'm sure someone will ask, but I'm not selling the Stage4's so they aren't available. As for availability of the Stage 5's, I think @Dirty Koala and I have the only Slinky spec'd ones and I think we both dealt directly through 4xOverland Australia in getting them which took several months for both of us. I don't believe that 4xO has any intention of continuing to do that for US customers and I would assume they plan to make them available through Mill Creek Overland along with the rest of the Slinky products Mill Creek is already carrying. So for anyone interested in Slinky spec Stage 5' shocks, let Mill Creek know and hopefully they start bringing them in soon.

Let me know how Stage 5 is as I eagerly await stage 37 so I can literally drive upside down through space :flipoff2:

All seriousness, those look absolutely incredible. Excited to hear your thoughts on those vs. stage 4.

Stage 4 Slinky is absolutely awesome. If you tend to drive aggressively offroad now and then you might be able to overrun them as I was (Think super heavy Cummins 80 with all 4 wheels in the air kind of driving). I have been running Stage 5 since last October and am yet to overrun them. Very stable for on and off road with none of the typical clicking sound you get with most bypass shocks.

long weekend trip to BuckRock lookout in Sequoia/Kings Canyon National forest.
Obsessed over engine coolant temperature both to and from. I dont know if I've made my self parnoid reading all the failure posts pertaining to over heating.
100 degree ambient temp and 75-80 MPH engine coolant temps reached varied from 195- ~205 or so (per ScanGauge 2)
going up the mountain at times they were at 212-218, the cooled to 195
Much of the time while on the dirt roads, flat and up hill temps stayed at ~195
I did a hose and thermostat replacement a month or so ago and did not notice that temps were getting this high, or don't remember.
When i got home I double checked my work and found nothing obviously wrong.
New thermostat is in correctly (small wiggle pin is at 12 position)
coolant and water mixture is at 50/50
does not look like there is air in the system.
no leaks
I've not done the fan clutch mod cus I did not seem to need it.
About to take a longer trip and having angst about it.

Your temps are perfectly normal and there's nothing to worry about.

I think most of us have this issue, I'm in the same boat, I well be in hiding when the bills come for this month.

just Did front crankshaft seal and oil pump cover gasket it went smoothy, I used the wits end kit also didn't have a 300# torque wrench on hand. I just used 250# one clicked it a couple times, then hit it with a 24" breaker bar with a 3 foot pipe and put all my weight on it about 5 times. i should be good right?

Might want to rent or borrow one, that spec is pretty important. Power Steering pump gear can get chewed up if that is out of spec.

Wired up sum cheap china LEDs... Rock lights, Side shooters, a front Light Bar & 2 front down lights.

Not to mention the engine oil pump.

Yeah, pretty important.

thank you! The more ya know

It also should be noted that a more common cause of loose bearings after service is improper torque procedure. Following FSM guidelines will work, though most tend to use a higher torque with larger tires. No steps should be skipped, especially spinning the hub/rotor while tightening to preload, as well as torquing a second time after preloading.
