A couple weekends back, addressed some suspension issues once and for all.
-2.5 caster bushings need replacing every couple years and only get me close to 2°. I want a better solution.
-3” flexi front coils (180#/275#) are too soft for a heavy truck like mine. Need a stiffer rate.
-Front driveshaft angle not ideal at 2.75” lift and I was getting some vibes. Shaft had some spline play as well.
Went all in and solved these problems by raising up 1” to a 4” lift. Threw in a Tacoma DC shaft built locally, 3.5” Tapered front coils, and Delta radius arms. Added a 30mm coil spacer in back to correct stance also. Truck drives so smooth now. Easy to handle, firmer in the corners and vibes are gone. I don’t expect to have to touch my suspension for a while now.

Got back from holiday started her to up in the parking garage and heard the brake pedal hissing. The power brakes proceeded go in and out while driving so of course here’s the list of parts I ordered to get her back in top shape:
  • seiken brake booster
  • Master brake cylinder
  • Reman calipers
  • New pads (rotors still in spec)
  • New ss brake lines from wits end
  • Ebrake rebuild kit
  • Abs delete plugs
  • Heater control valve (should’ve replaced this when I changed all the hoses
Lets just say MLK weekend is going to be a busy one for the brake overhaul. For today I’ll just start with getting some new brake fluid in her.

After like an hour of searching and finding various vague references to "doug" and "shoe" in relation to wind noise coming from the front door, I finally found the good stuff. Putting it here for easier reference because I literally spent the last hour at work digging through old threads and scratching my head, thinking "what is this mysterious shoe method?"

Also, if anyone knows the part number for the door seals (the one that goes around the perimeter of the front doors), I'd love to see it. I think I found the driver's side, but not sure. 67862-60071

A more controllable way to gently bend the upper door frame into the body a bit is to use an old tennis shoe. You put the tennis shoe at the base of the upper door frame and close the door against it, then press on the upper door frame to flex/bend it in a more controlled way than using your knee. It does not take much and you'll put a few more pounds of pressure on the window seal to seal out the noise. The shoe is simply to have something firm, yet soft enough not to damage the paint on the B pillar or door (or A pillar if the noise is up front). A little goes a long way here and bending it in an eighth inch would be considered dramatic. So, flex it a few times and go for a drive. Then repeat. Body shops do this all the time. Window up or down, but not halfway up.

@IdahoDoug

Looks like the right number to me.

@Heckraiser. From my records back when ordering the parts a year ago from Onur I have 67861-60073 for the right side and 67862-67003 for the left.

There are different part numbers. Yours is after 1/1996. Mine is up to 1/1996. (Edited. I had it backwards)

Id like to see your list for a water pump.

Hecho en Mexico (just like the 23 year old original)

Edit: Verified it works so I now have three working remotes (1 new OEM; 1 original OEM; 1 aftermarket)

I got my 33x10.50 15 Bfgoodrich all terrains installed while I was at work! they look way better than I thought. I should have installed them when I got the fj80. no lift stock suspension except new ome shocks. I don't really notice any loss of power (what I was most worried about) I think I can tell when I am driving at 75mph but 0-55mph no difference. I think if I replace the springs I will only do ome stock height for sure. The cat likes them.

Wired this mostly and installed the delta console crowds the shifter a little more than tuffy. But it is sweet otherwise
