What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (55 Viewers)

Me and my 80 hung out in the garage where we cobbled together a furniture dolly, an IKEA esque bookshelf destined for the trash, a 1" ratchet strap, various scraps of OSB, melamine and plywood together with some 14" full extension drawer slides into a pretty handy little triage cart. The big dolly base makes it stable even if I fully extend all the shelves at the same time.

Last Sunday I decided to start fixing the numerous leaks. After finding a milky substance in the coolant system I just decided to pull the motor, which turned into the whole drivetrain after reading engine removal post. I’m glad I did. It went really well. Pretty easy and straight forward... using the fsm. You’ll just need some help for the actual lifting the engine out. It would be really hard to do by yourself

Getting started on the turbo install prep. Since this is going to be my new marketing vehicle I figured it would be good to invest a little sweat equity into the engine bay to clean things up. Removed everything from the passenger side fender and cleaned/polished and waxed the entire inner fender, core support and firewall. Going to update the hardware with new and then cad plating a bunch of metal bits. I’m also replacing a bunch of stuff as well just to clean things up. Not going stupid crazy but it’ll look like some effort was put in.

A little bit more progress on my rear quarter panel project. Spent few hours on wiring and routing, not the prettiest but not horrible. Found a 2 in 4 out fused distribution block for the bigger draw items like the twin compressor and an accessory fuse box for smaller stuff. Debating to put the inverter on a separate 100amp fuse on the block but I will have a 100 amp breaker next to the battery so it’s just a pass through right now. No expensive setup like @NLXTACY’s big bucks whatever that thing is called but does the job for me. Now I just need to mount it, wired up ground and Aux battery. Once all that works out then a quick disconnect for the solar panel.

To my own amazement I heat shrink taped everything even though it going to be inside. I didn’t sleeve anything but it’s inside so no chaffing, also all the cables are made in US marine grade cable with tougher shell.

I finally got off my but and did my Dobinsons caster correction plates. Took me about 3 hours total mostly due to getting things lined up.

Covers were a request on from here, in etsy now

That's a good idea, cheers! Bit more portable than my cutdown broomstick!
Try not to Mar the surface of the shafts if you can. That will finish off the seal and the strut will lose what it has left. To pad the jaws I prefer a short piece of fuel hose that is split open.

They make a tool for that. I use one just like that one every day. You don't have to crank down on it too hard due to the design so it doesn't damage the shaft. A lot easier than vice grips and less chance for damage.

Nothing as awesome as some of you here. But sourced out a new center console. I haven't been this excited about a 25 doll hair part in a long time. Also adjusted the kickdown cable correctly. Thanks to Barry at TLC in Columbia for the great advice. Now she drives like a dream.

Also found about 7bucks in change when I removed the old console. And realized I need to pull all the interior and do some serious cleaning.
