Check the intake hose between the throttle body and the air flow meter. It may be cracked.

Yup! That was it. Must have cracked when I pulled out the air filter (only saw the crack when I pulled the air box lid up. Now I just have to find a temporary solution until I can get the OEM part.

Finally got around to getting my exhaust redone, at least from the forward O2 sensor back. $650 and they did a great job of tucking it up high and running it over the frame. I went with the quieter muffler option but it's still noticeably louder than stock. I think I can tolerate it though. Actually sounds a little manly.

Decided to face that I've been living with a false sense of security for almost 20 years .... dropped and removed the underside spare on the LX. I don't think it would have gotten me very far, plus it sits partially deflated so I could get my tow ball in and out.

Had to persuade it with a sledge hammer to get it to let go of the rim. Hella rusty, glad all the bolts came out.

Found the only truly rusty part of my truck. Guess the spare prevented the fine mist of oil that coated the rest of the truck from reaching the rear cross-member.

Figured while I was down there and already dirty I would try and see how using all 4 brakes felt after 20 years. Set the LSPV to max stock height. Didn't seem to make as much of a difference as it did on the Cammo Cruiser. Maybe the EBC Green pads make the difference?

Picked up the inner beadlock rings I had cut at a laser table place in town, outers will be 3/8 aluminum. Hex holes are for flange nuts, easy to replace and no need for a wrench on the backside. There was a slick little 60 series parked at the shop so I took a picture. The beadlock just set in place for a photo, not going on these wheels. Bolts will be flush countersunk stainless.

Also picked up the bent metal for 3rd row drawers

Nice work. Hard to tell from the pic but the tailpipe exit looks like it could be pointed at the end of the lower control arm. (maybe there's plenty of room) but be careful allowing the exhaust to heat up and damage the control arm bushing. Seen it happen before.

Clean it up and wrap it with flex tape-that stuff actually works!

Installed my part time hubs.. also found out that grease is mixing from the knuckle to the wheel bearings via the spindle.. guess I over greased the knuckle when I put the rcvs in a few hundred miles ago. I'm going to have the freshest grease in town because I'm an idiot

Car show duty today. We sponsored, so I had a spot and a booth, for a relaxing Saturday surrounded by beautiful cars.

We had about 100 cars in attendance, and perfect weather.

@TRAIL TAILOR , your tent was a hit. I had dozens of people climb up and down that ladder. People who hadn't seen an RTT before, were fascinated. It was pretty cool, especially seeing all the kids checking it out.

Put these on last weekend. After several hundred miles of potholed NJ roads I'm happy with them. (I blame the purchase on MUD. Specifically, @chap79 and his meticulous maintenance records that he posted a few weeks ago. Ready access to part #'s is a dangerous thing )

I’ll order a new one on Monday. This old one is pretty brittle.

My old lady and I drove the first gen down to pick up my first FZJ today! Its a little clapped but I borderline stole it so I am very happy! First thing we did when we got home was run up into the hills
It doesn't seem like the center locker is engaging when in low range and I am pretty sure the front and rear lockers are frozen up too The previous owner(who had it for 20 years) never even knew they were there...
I will mess with them tomorrow and see if I can free them up.

Is there a way to check definitively if the knuckle is over/ under greased? 3/4 packed is what I attempted but it’s not exactly easy to be 100% accurate. I know there is a plug in the top of the knuckle but, when removed, is there a guideline for how much grease should me measurable or visible via this access point?

It’s a mess to take it apart again and I want to service via the top port on the knuckle.

Attended the Natural Restoration Lower Sycamore cleanup today. Good event, lots of responsible users there.

Because we had the capable trailers, were requested to recover some appliances at a more remote location. Ended up finding two mattresses, a small fridge, washer, dryer, three TVs two laptops and a bunch of junk, all of it shot up.

The main area (site 7) that we worked, by this time all of the big stuff was gone.

Trees are irrelevant, shoot them to death, no worries, they will grow back in a few decades!

Only one dumpster today, but it left totally packed and some trash went out in trailers. No weight yet, but estimated at ~6tons, representing ~$800 out of the OHV budget, for the dumpster alone.

Guaranteed, every single person there would have rather been wheeling today, the sponsors would prefer their donations were spent on OHV projects, instead of picking up after shooter pigs. This is by far the biggest recreation problem that Forest faces and the shooting community continues to deny, ignore, stand by, while the more responsible recreation communities spend their time and treasure on it. If they had any pride, it would be embarrassing! The sooner shooting is banned on public lands, the better it will be for those who care about having nice places to recreate!
