Installed a new hinge on the Campteq. Went with a heavy duty stainless steel piano hinge. Lovely weather for it...
The wife is such a trooper.

Then with the sun back out on Sunday we put a coat of RV Silicone roof coating on the top. This sucker gets hot in the sun. Either a horrible mistake or a great improvement... we'll see!
(I don't think the wife knew she coordinated her hair thingy to the masking tape... or did she...)

good for you, screw the weather it looks awesome and you def scored.

I just hope that the bolts aren't the link that could create the reaction. They are stainless bolts and the nut side would be touching the Aluminum via a washer.

Touching is fine as long as no moisture can get between them.

You need 4 things for a galvanic cell. 2 dissimilar metals, electrolyte, and a metallic path. If you get rid of any one of those four, the reaction can't occur.

Your bolt is the metallic path, but without the electrolyte, there is no cell.

A light coat of anything will work. Just to keep the bare surfaces from rubbing each other. On my aluminum trailer for my 18 wheeler on some places they had rubber gaskets, other places just black paint, and also some thin plastic like packing tape on some places. The headache rack I have on my Freightliner, just uses the protective film that the polished aluminum comes with. They bolt the ss piano hinges right over that, then just tear or cut off the excess. My entire trailer is aluminum, with SS hardware bolting it together.

"Anything" that forms a dielectric shield - yes. A thin coat of copper based anti seize will not help, and will in fact make things much worse.

The plastic wrap is a perfect dielectric shield.

For all the new 80 Series owners:

Find yourself someone local that knows a couple of things and hoards 80 Series parts. That way you can call them at 8pm on a Wednesday night to get what you need! (Especially when you didn’t listen when he tell you that your air intake hose is dry and brittle and is going to snap in half when you try to take it off!)

Amirite @FIVEmanTR10? Haha.

Concluded my week of driving through California for work and personal business. I’ll do it again in another 3 months.

Picked up a Warn 8274 today from a friend for Free ;), been on his dead 88' F250 for awhile....hooked it up to a battery and it runs!

Going to rebuild it, ordering a rebuild kit for it....now Im looking for a commercial ARB bumper since they take the 8274...not sure they are still making them....might have to custom fit in a winch or non winch version ARB...

last pic is a non winch model ARB that custom fit a winch, not sure if its a 8274 ...
