I forgot to post over here. We got some snow:

After clearing it around the house, we decided to roof rake the cabin. The dirt roads had a decent amount on them. The 80 didn't even notice:

Roof raked and relaxed at the cabin. No one was around. (I love being able to go up when everyone else on the lake is away)

The lake was beautiful, even in the gray/stormy weather

Man, if we get a zillionith of that in our part of the world, our deserts would be green, wow.

And we have another 18 inches of snow coming in tonight through Wednesday! (I never get tired of snow!)

Knocked out a pre road trip lube service:

1. Oil and filter changed
2. Steering kunckles topped up with moly grease
3. U joints greased
4. Checked the knuckle studs for proper torque
5. Reminded myself that it's time to deal with the oil leaks since its a mess under there

1 Added Rogid D2 fog lights. Worth the price. But need ferrite chokes as their drivers are causing some serious RFI with my antenna challenged rig. All lights now wired using slee harnesses.

2 Also found that rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze is a suitable match to the black pearl emblems on the 40th. So now my 94 grill swap looks a wee tad like, well like a 94 grill painted out with a 40th livery. If you squint...from a distance.

3 Also passed CA smog with my ac delco charcoal can . F'yeah!!!! Beers on me!!!

Took my 80 to Moab...

I just got this truck in November and can't overstate how impressed I am with its wheel-ability. Getting over the Rockies sucked with the 3FE, but it really shined off road. Dragged my trailer hitch a bunch and definitely noticed how long the cruiser is, but it took just about everything I threw at it.

Are you hanging around with the Range Rover because he broke down and you had to rescue him?

Ha! Darn close. He's my buddy and made the trip with me from Nebraska. Never broke down on the trail, but we did replace an alternator and a blown transmission cooler line on the trip to and from. We were both happy we had a Toyota in our midst...

Installed a new hinge on the Campteq. Went with a heavy duty stainless steel piano hinge. Lovely weather for it...
The wife is such a trooper.

Then with the sun back out on Sunday we put a coat of RV Silicone roof coating on the top. This sucker gets hot in the sun. Either a horrible mistake or a great improvement... we'll see!
(I don't think the wife knew she coordinated her hair thingy to the masking tape... or did she...)

Picked up this Trail Gear diff armor from Low Range Offroad while on sale. Welded it on today.

That’s considered a “successful trip” in the Rover world...

Redoing insulation and headliner on the campteq last night. A little welding fire over the weekend we put out fast, but it still ruined the new headliner and insulation we'd put in. Fun fun! 1 step forward....
Glad the fire extinguisher was on hand along with a bucket of water. A bit of weld looks like it bounced off the fire blanket and right onto the headliner. Used water instead of the extinguisher to avoid a bigger mess, but the liquid plastic sure burns skin easily as I splashed it out.

Cut off the exhaust in order to finish my rear crossmember for the suspension overhaul. Also decided to replace my y-pipe and cats with the Magnaflow version. After unbolting the y-pipe of course I had to see how it sounded with open headers.

Quite impressive actually. But no power to match the sound unfortunately.
