started doing the 4.88s in the rear, but found they didn't send rear pinion shims, so i'm stopped until i get a couple. need to go .55 if anyone has any

Drove it from NC to Maine!!!!! :D

Just picked up my new to me 1996 LX 450. Started a list of to-do. Plan to keep it mostly stock till we move up to a 100 for the family. Long list of maintenance items, new windshield, rear brakes, get A/C working, add factory running boards and roof rack. List would look much different if it was not the family rig.

I may be able to hook you up.

I bought gears from another member, and also bought a bunch of shims. Will know around 3:30 what I have, and will PM.

Merely marking as a reminder.

Edited:

Have a couple of most all of these:

Went on one on the toughest trails around, busted a tail light and destroyed my rocker panels. But I had a hell of a time and most of it can be fixed pretty easily.

Was in the Sierras working on the family cabin...and in search of any open trails in the El Dorado National Forest with my six year old co-pilot. Did a few trail runs around the Loon Lake area on the way home, and played a little on the big rock at the Rubicon trailhead.

Nothing that a little buffing won't get out.

Had to backtrack on one trail due to a 30" tree directly across trail.

No dents, and still have my flares.

Installed a reman. alternator and belts (thanks Beno).

And I ran a 4 ga. Ancor power cable to the DS rear: from a BlueSea bus bar at the batt, through a 30 amp cir. breaker, then through a solenoid (ignition on) mounted right next to the fuel pump relay, and then down along the frame rail in split loom. Drilled a hole in the rear, near where the gas fill drain hose exits, coated the hole with Permathane, installed an Ancor grommet, then slid the 4 ga. cable through the grommet on up next to the where the OEM jack lives. That is as far as I got. Next I will hook up a BlueSea fuse box in that DS rear side panel near the jack, then run a cable down to a new 7 pole hitch wiring connector. And then set up some aux power cigarette lighter sockets in the back, amp, etc.

I like spinning wrenches, but I would rather be camping somewhere my 80 took us...

This weekend was a scrub down from last weekend.... full detail... new HIR low beams and LED backup lenses..

Last weekend was a fun camping trip out to Smoke Hole Canyon WV...

No cool trips yet. Ugh.

Did manage to get it washed finally. Finished the underhood light install. Only to realize I forget to install the hood switch. Doh! For now the switch is the removal of the fuse :flipoff2:

Cleaned under the hood after the heater control valve blew.

Installed the clear markers and turn signals. I need to install the blinking corner mod. I have the wiring sitting on the workbench just waiting to get installed.

Figured out why the aux. battery wasn't charging. When K&H was putting everything back together they didn't notice the ground wire had separated. Hooked that back up and now all my accessories work again :P

Added some more to my EMT kit, changed out the water in my water tank. Stuffed the tailgate solid.

Install new ac compressor. Cold air is a good thing.
Validated new ARB lockers working.
Retorqued rear output shaft cover on tcase to hopefully stop a drippy leak.
Moved ARB air line for new exhaust.
Finished mounting winch control box.
Reworked the ECU mount.
Installed new steering shaft gasket at the firewall.

Installed another POS aftermarket radiator . One yr ago almost exact I had to replace my radiator in a mad rush a day before a trip. Bought it from a very reputable rad shop. The rad sucked and was finicky to install. Skip ahead 363 days into a 365 day warranty it failed and was giving another new POS rad and the fit is worse.

Time to save some pennies for a better one, but this should hopefully keep me running for a little while longer.

Changed front diff ( rear diff drain plug rounded from PO ) transfer case oil. Added moly to the birfs. Changed drive belts and tension pulley. Thanks for supervising/ helping this noob Pete ( 94srunner )

I love bonding with my 80:bounce:

Went camping for just a quick overnighter, but nice to get out in the hills again. Also did some minor cleaning and updating in the interior - some loose pices now fixed, and just a good overall appreciation. Also did some measuring in the rear cargo area for upcoming storage project...good week overall. Love these trucks.
