Ran a Group 31 Yellow top Optima as a second battery, driver's side, for a few years without any clearance issue. I think I used mil-spec battery terminals for connection.

Mine is a Duracell Group 31 Marine mounted on the driver's side. Length and width are fine, but its a little too tall. I started with mil-spec terminals, and that cleared the for most of the afternoon, but when I was tightening everything down it led to sparks, smoke, and a 1/4" hole in the underside of the hood. Right now everything is running to the second positive terminal that they put on Marine batteries. My next step will be to try turning the battery around so that the positive terminal is inboard. I think there's more room there, but I'll have to make a new cable to the ACR.

Road trip from Boise, ID to Brundage Mt. (McCall, ID) chasing snow. Woke up this morning to 5 inches of fresh snow on the lake side bowls.

Maybe not a shame exactly but yeah, get them done @4Cruisers, the self satisfaction will be far more complete saying you did them all than even driving a cruiser around for the next 20 years. I’ve done 3 of the 4ks in NH... 45 to go!
agreed , I’ve put off to many things that I was never able to do due to finances, health or whatever. We are never promised tomrrow . You can still drive the hills with a injury that won’t let you climb I know that very thing from first experience

Drove a total of 1400 miles to and from Breckenridge this past week. No issues to speak of just fill up the tank and go, I love that I cn do that with a now 31 year old vehicle. Ten hours of 3200 rpm at 80mph and the old 2F had nothing to complain about. As usual Colorado did not disappoint, not as much snow as last year, but better than flat and brown West Texas. Big Bend is on the list of places to go next.
One thing I added before the trip was the center console. What a difference that made! There is a place to rest my arm on now. The console idea came from a thread on here from about 10 years ago, for $80 shipped I'm not complaining. Please excuse my absolutely destroyed seats they are soon to be replaced :grinpimp:

Man I am so jealous of you guys that live near non-chemically treated roads. I visited my 60 in the garage this weekend, inspected the trickle charger connection to the battery, then pulled the c pillar vents. The rubber flaps were MIA so I made some new ones from Home Depot gasket rubber and stapled them back in as they were done 34 years ago.

Couple more months and she will be out of storage and onto some clean roadways!

Tackled the spaghetti monster under the hood of my '86 FJ60, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been - a rebuilt 3FE replaced the original 2F. I cleaned, tested, and installed the three VSVs; cleaned, traced, and verified the routing and labeling on all of the vacuum lines; and cleaned and tested the EGR valve and the EGR vacuum modulator. I'll tackle the air plenum and air switching valve tomorrow.

Ended up finally having time to full swap my carb out for a known good unit. Been battling some carb issues lately and had a spare sitting around that @HemiAlex was nice enough to lend me months ago with no real return date. Got time and was tired of dealing with my issues so took the couple hours to swap everything over and man, what a difference.

Now to wait for my ultrasonic cleaner to get here so I can do a serious deep clean of the carb and full rebuild (again). No plan to spend the money to send to JimC or Mark to have it rebuilt as I have decided that I am going to do like @wngrog and go EFI this year. Though I will probably be going with the FiTech system over the AFI unit.
