I'm going to go look at FJC today to replace my '03 2500 'Burb. I get cornfused with all the combinations. I want auto/4WD and the 6-CD changer, but beyond that I have no idea. I will not wheel this, that's what the '40 is for. Mainly wifey's.
So here is my question. What do you not have on your FJ that you would like to have and what do you have that you don't like/use/need? Keep in mind this is going shopping, not wheeling.

In my opinion the mid grade package is the way to go. For the extra three thousand you really only get a bunch of bling bling. The stock stero is great. But on the other hand I kind of wish I had those rear side air bags that are only available on the top end package. I added the factory toyota ipod adapter that allows you to plug in your ipod and run it through the deck. Had them run the cable to the glove box. I plug it in and bingo over a thousand songs available. This was my compromise to the 6 disc system. The money saved going with the mid grade package was put into rock rails and OME lift. Which my Toyota dealer was more then happy to bring in and install. I also added a passenger side arm rest. Why this is a option really pisses me off but oh well. I also told them the stock tires were usless to me so we agreed on a swap of the factory tires for a set of 5 Alum. TRD 16" rims for me to put winter tires on. The factory toyota rock rails are quite burly as well. They even come with a warrenty on the paint for two years. They are very well powder coated compared to some of the after market rock rails I have seen. Toyota may not budge on the price of your FJ but the accessories is were you can get them to drop the prices a whole lot. Big mark up on these items.

you'll definitly want the convenience package 1 (i thiunk its almost impossible to get an FJ in my region without it anyway), it includes a lot of the features you'd come to expect when buying any new car these days (power mirrors, keyless entry cruise controll, backup parking sensor, tinted back glass and Daytime running lights. i also opted for convienece package 2 wich inclueds the roof rack towing hitch and wiring harness. the FJammer 6CD changer is nice, but as mentioned, the standard stereo is good, and really, if you want a "premium" stereo, you're better off going aftermarket IMO, its just not financially worth it to spend $1000 for a stereo. keep in mnd that some option and package combiations may not be ofered inour region, for example, i also got te optional rear locker whichwas not offered without the firstconveinene packge and (i think) the secongd also. i had an unhappy discussion with thesalesmnger a h explained that if you want to bevery specifi with youroptions you may be SOLpersonally i waned abase 6MT 4xbut i wasnt even offered in my region.

OK.......................I did it. Bought a black one with convenience package and "upgrade/option #1. Worked out a deal I can live with.
Now I need a pic of the '40 and the FJ side-by-side. Will do.
Molle Toyota in Kansas City. They sponsor our local Torndado Alley Cruiser Club. They give us CDan prices on parts. Now they have great sales personnel.

Great place to do business.

Pics later.......like on Wednesday.

????Is the receiver hitch a bolt-on? Assume so.

congrats! i'm not sure about the hitch, i assume so, but its dark out right now and i cant check to be sure

The factory hitch also has a different trim panel on the bumper. The Gulf States Region had a different hitch that was lower and did not need the trim panel. Lower, however, means less clearance off road.
