Settled in fairly well at my parents house now, and work is going quite well. Very interesting, future opportunities, etc. plus it's about to snow, so I'm excited. Any case, Karen and I looked at various rental options (apartment, house, etc.) and the costs associated. However, I'm done with apartments and don't want to have to move our stuff again, so just for the heck of it we looked at what we would qualify for a mortgage, and what the monthly payments would be. The rates and payments are such that we decided to buck up and get a house. :D

It's about 1 mile from Spring Lake, MI and about 5 miles from Lake Michigan, and only 35 minutes from my parents. It has all of the house stuff that Karen wanted, and a nice 2 door pole barn out back as well. I will post up pictures later on, after closing is official in mid December. It's pretty amazing to think that we are actually going to have our own house, and put down roots. I also know that I'm not moving for the next 30 years, ain't no way! So, any time you are in the area, you are more than welcome to stay. More to come, stay tuned!

Okay Brian, now that you've set us up a home base, let's see about scouting out some excellent whitetail hunting areas, getting landowner permission, and getting me a tag (draw state?).

Then call me, we can set up a time to get me up to wreak havoc on your deer herd!!!

Congrats on the house, nothing better than walking through the door and knowing it's yours....

Brian, Congrats on your house purchase. I am hoping to get one here in Hot Springs soon. I might come see you if I ever get to do my uppers trip.

My family owns 160 acres of land in the middle of nowhere with a trout stream and woods. Several deer were taken this year during rifle season, which just ended. No scouting or seeking permission required - all you have to do is ask me :D

Thanks, Mike, and good luck on yours! If you come up to do the UP, absolutely stop by. Save yourself a hotel bill and kick back.

All paperwork is signed now, so we're just waiting for closing at this point. I'll be calling United Van Lines this week to tell them when and where for our stuff.
