ok....i went out into the pearl bottoms this evening with some friends on a cinco de mayo celebration tour... everything was going great...we wheeled all around back in there. This is the Northside drive entrance by the way...

Well i was heading along just past the trailhead and i here a pop and some hissing...yep a flat... everyone with me tells me its time to gun it back to the base...So having engoyed the holiday a little too much I turn her around and start wheeling back to the trail head. The route we took was a little hairy so I decide on an alternate route. Well that was when the bad situation got worse. I went head first into a deep hole. completly stuck immediatly.

Then we discover my trusty winch is not working. Although it worked earlier today in a test. we are about to walk out when my firend decides he can hotwire my winch. He takes a knife and my key chain and with some finageling makes it work. I promptly rip out some speaker cable and we make ourselvevs a redneck remote. We manage to pull her out of this hole...but remember...i still have a flat. I have up out of the holes but my rear left tire is coming off...We tried to take it off but popped a rusty lugnut off. That is when we called it quits.

So to make a long story short...my cruiser is sitting about 100 yards from the east end of northside with a flat... My buddy and I and going to try and change the tire tommorow but if we don't have any luck can someone me out? It is not a hard place to get to. It is just difficult to get out of with a flat...But uh yea...if you are free tommorow and are looking for a northeast jackson adventure call me...

Oh and by the way...4 of us walked out in dinner party attire covered in mud.... back to 3 angry wives....mine didn't mind so much....

i think my main problem is changing that tire...if a few more lug nuts break like one already has then don't know what I am going to do....any ideas there? if a few more break I won't hav a place to attach my spare.

I am heading down there now to see what i can do... I don't think a wagon could fit through some of the trees though...

gimme a call though

barry saved me! We managed to get my tire off and replaced...and luckily my 25 year old spare performed like a champ.

Barry's 60 got stuck in a little creek trying to get back to me but I hotwired the winch again and we were home free.

Barry..I owe ya one...

i couldn't sleep all night knowing my girl was out there in the woods by herself...anyone know what to do about a couple of broken lugnuts? is it safe to drive like that?

by the way pics of last night to come....

That was fun. Lets do it again sometime.

Can anyone tell me why my brakes would suddenly feel spongy after an adventure like this? I was pointed down into the mud with my front bumper hung up on the angle. WG had to pull me with the winch cuz he could get no traction. I'm wondering if I just need to bleed them--whether all the bouncing and twisting let some air into the system?

I learned several things:

blocks of wood to set a jack on are a good thing--especially on soft ground.
my truck, in its present state, is too long and low to go through certain angles when the ground is soft.
I need to get the 33 MT's off the floor and on the truck.
keep a can of liquid wrench in the truck.
A winch is very useful thing.
I want lockers.

For a couple of hundred you too can have a locker. We are pro's at installing Aussie Lockers.
