Am looking at purchasing a 05 LX-470 that has been driven through relatively deep water. Deep enough to get 1" of water in the floor board and killed the Mark Levinson amp.

What other gremlins are out there that should concern me?

The vehicle is running fine currently. I've seen YouTube videos of folks off-roading that drive through streams etc as this one was so I'm assuming that the main computer is higher (I was told behind the dash).

If it really was only 1" in the floorboard (power seats are working and show no evidence of water)...what other electronic wiring harnesses are under the flooring that could be damaged?

Carpet was pulled I am told to allow drying out. Yes, Mold could be an issue down the road. I'm in Texas and it gets hot here! :)

Anyone have experience with electrical issues. I know there are some harnesses under the carpet, so I am concerned with longer term shorting from corrosion.

I feel like every clean cruiser I see is from TX. Why bother with one that has an issue like water intrusion?

I purchased a (undisclosed) water damaged car back when I was in college (~35 years ago). It was a relatively simple car (Datsun 280z) compared to a modern car. The number of electrical gremlins that I fought in that car, due to corroded harness connectors and switch contacts, would discourage me from ever considering a water damaged car again (especially with the level of electronics in a modern vehicle). (It's not "shorts" you have to worry about, but intermittent/bad connectivity).

Change the amp, nothing else should be damaged. As mentioned, remove carpet, let everything dry thoroughly, clean thoroughly and spray some kind of water repellant in critical places.

probably a hurricane car. buy it cheap and enjoy it as long as it lasts, change all fluids no matter what the story is. expect bearing issues and wiring problems

Go to YouTube and Google hoovies garage. He bought an lx470, refurbished it, wheeled it and promptly flooded it. He had the same issue with a dead amp. Curious what he does to fix it.

It probably is a hurricane car.

I'll buy it very cheap. I think the starter was shot as well as the amp.
