This might just be the dumbest question ever asked, but:

I just filled the windshield washer fluid reservoir for the first time since owning my 60, but the jets (or whatever they are called on these) are not letting the fluid through. I can hear the pump working, but no fluid.

Are the front and rear pumps both connected to the control button on the steering column?

Is there something out there that will loosen up the junk that clogs the jets?

I bet the PO filled up with wax. You can try a long skinny wire, but I bet you end up buying new ones.

Oh, on my rear window washer, if I haven't use it in a while, it takes about 20 seconds to 'prime' before it sprays.

No, the rear pump is seperate from the control on the column. Find the rear wiper switch. Push up, push up again, that's your rear spray.

I just fixed my rear sprayer a little better than what it was before.. I tried a sewing needle but I think blowing through the tube unclogged the nozzle. HTH

Hey Jason,

Head lights need to be turned on for the jets to work.

:D

P.S. Don't ask me how long it took me to figure this out. D'oh !

Cahil,

Well, I guess that makes sense for the headlight jets... but what about the regular wiper jets?

blow out the jet(and hose) with compressed air and/or stick a pin the holes to clean em out. You can take the hose off where it conects with jet and see if water is getting that far.

front and rear are sperate and use seperate pumps, the front is under the hood(on bottle), the rear is in the back driverside side panel(round access cover)

LP,

Yep, I filled both locations, but thought they might run on the same power source. I will do the tricks you mentioned and see what happens. Thanks!

The rear can be disconnected right at the liftgate hinge. Checking flow there can narrow down where the problem is. Gotta love a vehicle with 5 squirters!

The headlights only need to be on for the headlight cleaners. For the windshield and rear, they don't

Regular jets should work anytime running with power ... hmmm.

Hijack but on topic...

What would make the fluid run straight thru and empty the reservoir? One side does it, the other side doesn't. Both jet as designed, just one leaks until out of fluid...

Dunno, weird, sounds like something not pluggin' the one side in 'off' mode which drains. Haven't had to fool with this system yet, already got my hands full with others.

Sounds like ya' gonna have to break out the double billed detective hat, long curved pipe ... and sleuth around a bit. Part of the fun and the pleasure of the FJ60.

It drains out because the valve is broken. Buy a new valve from cruiserdan and you should be set.

I love the 60 healight washers.....but.....when I have the lights on and want to spray the windsheild, I get light spray as well. I know I'm picky, but I wish there was a seperate switch for the headlight washers so I don't waste all my fluid. That chit costs about 50 censt a galon. It also leaves those little spots on your bumper and hood. Damn, I can never have anything perfrect. and yes, I know I'm cheap.

Are U serious ?

With my truck, if I'm first position at the light next to the pedestrian walk ... I can flip on my headlights and see if any of the cute gurlz wanna enter my 'wet t-shirt' contest ...
