I finally pulled the trigger on a 2006 Lexus GX470. Bought it with 215k. Seems to have been pretty well maintained. However.....

Since I got home I switched from sport mode to comfort mode while coasting down the street in front of my house, and several dash lights came on and won’t go back off (VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, Traction Control, and Check Engine light) not sure if I did something wrong, or there was already an issue that I wasn’t made aware of. Has this happened to anyone else?

thanks!!

It was probably just a coincidence that the lights came on as you switched suspension modes. You can play with the comfort/sport dial all you want while driving; it just changes the shock dampening settings. Nothing to do with the engine or anything. All of those other lights will come on along with the check engine light. Get a scanner, pull the CEL code, and go from there.

My guess is it’s the SAIS (supplemental air injection system, or some such blabbery).
It injects cool air (upstream or down, can’t remember) of cat’s to reduce emissions.
When the air pump goes bad, and they do, the dash lights you see all go on.
As mentioned above, hit an auto parts store for a free code read.
If it is the SAIS, best course of action is a bypass kit. Hewitt makes the one I have.

However, As a first step, remove, replace, and tighten the gas cap. Sometimes the simplest things can cause a problem.

Awesome. Thanks for the information! I’ll swing by autozone after work and see if I can get them to pull the codes.

Good to know. I was worried it was something I wasn’t supposed to adjust as I was driving. Also a little nervous to check the center locking diff. I was readingthat I should’ve done that before I bought the vehicle. Thanks again for the reply.

Literally ANYTHING that trips the CEL trips ALL THE LIGHTS by default. It's Toyota's way of saying, if anything is wrong with the motor all bets are off with the traction and stability controls.
