Want to do some beach camping/surf fishing

The ferry from ocracoke to Haterras is first come first served, so expect long lines on weekends and public holidays. Once on Hatteras, the drive on beach next to the museum is nice and the drive on beach at Cape Point is popular with fisherman. Plenty of drive on access between there and Oregon Inlet. A lunch stop at Watermans is highly recommended.
Will do thanks!

Hit the 1718 Brewing in Ocracoke for food and beer.

When you exit the ferry from Ocracoke, turn right and ramp 55 is right there. There is also a fun road service road if you do not want to take ramp 55 onto the beach, just keep straight.

Both of those are going on my list!

Stay in C and D loop at Ocracoke, A and especially B flood easily.

1718 brewing, Eduardos, Pony Island, Smacknallys all good to eat at.

Lighthouse, British Cemetery

I'll be at Frisco campground October 15-29 then heading to Ocracoke after that. Hit me up if you are around.

I know this might seem obvious to most but air down before you hit the sand. When we went to the Outer Banks last year, the difference between even 20psi and 18psi was significant. I should have air'ed down to even 16psi.

I’ll be at Frisco Oct 14-16 to do some fishing. If you see a green 80 series, feel free to stop and say Hi.

I’ll be in hatteras from nov 13 to 19 for fishing. White 100 with an arb and dorkle. We are normally out at ramp 55 or up at frisco.

Fort Fisher last Saturday. It was hot and quite a few stuck vehicles. We caught a few croakers but nothing else.

@roflbox in the background. @AndrewHadji came along for the ride.

We had no issues, air down to 20 and let it eat.

We're the stuck ones with full air or just big heavy diesels?
Heavy trucks with small highway tires (like the one in the background), full size 2WD pickup with low profile tires, and a rental Jeep Grand Cherokee with low profile tires.

I brought my tires down to 17.5psi and had no problems at all.

Thanks for the advice guys, went south -> north starting at Cedar Island taking the ferry and ended out trip in Wanchese at a bed and breakfast. Beach driving at the farthest south ORV ramp just outside Ocracoke was the best way, very wide there compared to everywhere else but wasn't too busy anywhere. I aired down to 14-15 which was probably excessive but had no issues. Ocracoke campground was ok but too many people with generators so we moved to an empty area on the road side but got destroyed by mosquitos and then a large thunderstorm forced us to sleep in the truck which was a bit stuffy. Next time I'll probably pass on the camping. That being said I already want to go back and/or to do a club trip to Portsmouth Island (or Hatteras I suppose).

Just have to be very selective about sites at ocracoke. Many of the A and B sites turn into a lake after a good rain

For anyone debating...Frisco is where it's at. Wow I love the setup! It winds in and out of the dunes with spots decently private.

Only thing I wish is that Ocracoke and Frisco had heated showers like Oregon inlet....but I can deal with it
